So I was working on Vinyl Scratch (DJ PON-3), cutting out one of her forelegs with my dremel using a new blade. Usually I have to use cutting discs but they burn the wood horribly. Really horribly. So I got hold of a 3/4" circular saw attachment. Well, it turns out this particular tool is prone to jump, and it caught a hard spot in the wood and jumped out right into my thigh. And when I say jumped I mean this blade really went for my leg. Hard enough to go through a waist apron and a pair of jeans into my leg. If I had only been wearing jeans I would have been in deep crap, but the loose fabric in the apron tangled the blade before the saw could do more than give me a scratch and a row of toothmarks. So thank goodness I didn't need to visit the ER for a saw blade in the leg.
But tangling the blade up while the motor was running at top speed stripped out the dremel and now...it is dead. And that is just just awful. *sigh* Now, I love working with a mallet and chisels (they make me feel like a real woodworker), but it is significantly slower, and I've been trying to get a bunch of woodwork done. So I might end up using rent money I don't actually have to get a new one. And that's really not going to end well no matter what. So that's the bullet I caught.
Woo-hoo! Aquired a block of purpleheart for Twilight Sparkle. It's scrap of course so I'm still laminating it into a workable block, but hooray!!!! Soon she shall be complete!!
