I believe these caps were worn by bell ringers and other non-Salvationists in the Southern California Division for a number of years.  They are no longer being used in that Division

This was an organization that used The Salvation Army's sterling reputation and history to commit fraud. The Salvation Mission Army Holy Orthodox Christian Church collected money to help handicapped people. However, all the money was kept by the leaders and workers. These crosses came with a collection of Donut Girl items I purchased. I'm not sure if they were worn on the uniform or not

Framed Information - Lt. Hannah D. Scholfield

This frame measures 22 1/2 x 28 1/2" and contains information about Lt. Hannah D. Scholfield, one of the original eight young female officers sent to France who would soon become known as Donut Girls.  There is a timeline of her life from her Date of Acceptance in 1917 to her marrying Captain Peter Hofman in 1929.  Also displasyed is a copy of their "Werlcome to the West from a 1958 War Cry

This vintage poster is framed and measures 35" x 46 1/2".  "The Salvation Army Lassie Keep Her on the Job.

This poster was purchased as a part of a collection featuring medals, uniform items, and papers belonging to Lt. Hannah D. Scholfield, who was commissioned 28 February 1918 and assigned to "War-Work France" at age 22.

This small wooden Lassie belonged to General Eva Burrows.  It was obtained from the General in 2002.  The bonnet reads "Fralsings Armen"  It stands 3" tall

They are 7" tall, jointed at the neck and shoulders.She has blue sleep eyes, he has brown sleep eyes, and the girl has a blond glued on wig. They are dressed in navy blue Salvation Army uniforms, all original, with molded/painted shoes. They are identified as Salvation Army Lad and Lass circa 1953. Lad 887 Lass 885 They are not marked, probably displayed by by Marcie Doll and made by Plastic Molded Arts or A & H. The Lad's package was marked " The Salvation Army Trade & Supplies Dept. 547-555 Nathan Road. Kowloon, Hongkong" 20.00

1906  Four women officers, known as "slum workers", pose in 1906, by which time the social services program of The Army had been developed fairly extensively.  Aprons and "slum" badges were a part of the uniform for officers in this phase of The Army's program

Former Salvation Army Lassie and popular among the blase Broadwyites amoung whom she preached nightly in the bright light district, is vacationing in the land of sunshine. After resigning from The Salvation Army, Miss Crawford all but disappeared from public view. Miss Crawford starts soon on a tour of the country conducting evangelical meetings. (caption Nov 21 1923)

 

Reba Crawford was in her 20s when she arrived at Times Square in 1921.
She was an actress in her own right; charismatic, memorizer of oratory and
able to deliver at the drop of a hat.  Nearly every restaurant in the area had
displayed her picture on the wall.  Newspaper columnist Walter Winchell, along
with Runyon, was among the first to write about The Salvation Army's colorful
ministry, leading to the creation of one of Broadway's most successful
productions, "Guys and Dolls."

Marching Forward To A Better World

For the first time, the Territorial Commanders spoke to the nation on the same radio hookup on January 31, 1946, when they joined in a round-table discussion of the Army's "Marching Forward To A Better World" program and the "Christ For The Nation Crusade" over the Mutual Broadcasting System.  Objectives of the work were described by Commissioners E.I. Pugmire ( 2nd from left), Wm. C Arnold, John J. Allen, and Lt-Commissioner Wm. H. Barrett.  Commissioner D. Mc.Millan (extreme left) asked questions the public might want to know about the work.

While fireman battled blaze in Salvation Army branch building at 3256 N. Wilton Ave. yesterday, the organizations mobile emergency canteen, which goes to most big fires, serves coffee and rolls to firefighters. Two firemen were injured battling the flames (caption Dec. 22 1950)
