Welcome!

My husband, Larry Pennell, loved spending his formative years in Napa, and is very fond of the people who touched his life.  We returned in May 2010 for his 47th high school reunion, which turned out to be such a magical and rewarding event (thanks to the efforts of an incredible team!).  The years between 1963 and 2010 simply disappeared as old friends found each other again and the memories flowed! As an innocent bystander, I was able to capture many exchanges on my cameras, and it is an honor to share these photos with all of the attendees.  Just click on the link below titled "NHS Reunion 2010" and feel free to print any of the photos or create your own memory books. It really was a walk to remember!  Thank you for allowing me to photograph you at this magical event! Fondly, Denise Pennell

An Ode to the Class of 1963 (Courtesy of Bim Coyle)

It was a different time in the 60's...

Napa was small, a bit quaint and yet to grow.

Who the hell knew the difference

Between a Burgundy and a Merlot?

The downtown featured classic old buildings...

It was family-owned, with no corporate fakery...

It was Carrither's, Albert's and Rothman's

Wigger Brothers, Partrick's and the Napa Bakery.

We came together at Napa High,

A blend of curiosity, fear and bravado...

Would we still be the big deals we thought we were

At Ridgeview, Redwood and Silverado?

Our heads held high, we walked through the doors...

Look at all this talent!  Who are we going to date?!

In came John Nemes and Sandy Knutson,

Dick Knowlton, Darlene Newton and Dave Slaight.

We seemed to mesh rather quickly,

And soon fell out of our daze...

Just ask Claudia Brown and Marsha Linder...

Kent Kerri, Charlie Heitz and Ralph Lacaze.

Taking care of business: Fotinos and McAbeer,

And the teachers who tried to learn us...

We sat in classrooms with Burnsed, Blewitt and Cassidy

And was it Earnest Marvis or Marvis Earnest?

How about our twins?  Marjorie and Maxine Luiz...

And the Leflers, Mindy and Merry...

Don't forget the Andersons, Kathy and Linda...

And the Hansens, Karen and Larry.

Ahead of our time, we were racially diverse...

From Hogan to Fogarty, from Mikolajik to Dianne Wisnoskie...

From Barraza to Tomale Torres, Ahlswede to Iverson...

And the best name of all:  Bunny Dembroski

There were good athletes and memorable games...

Mike Doughty, Bob Pierce and John Hazen (nicknamed "Hunch")...

Pete Langenbach, Cat Ballou and Mike Sunnafrank...

And just a bit-off-center, Big Dick Bunch.

We had a Thea and a Lila...

An Archie, a Clarence and a Dixie (Gray)...

We had a Marva, a Chester and an Abbie

And where have you gone, Lorena Dunaway.

Pete Maple, Dave Marchus, Dave Loveall...

Judy Bounsall, Bob Crossley and Sandy Dailey...

Who knew bettah than Stan Ghisletta,

And won't you come home, Chip Bailey?

Vosgien, Folk and Rutherford...

Some of the best we've ever met...

Gallagher, Gonsolin and Hendricks...

And, whoa! whoa! Claudette!

Billie Weed and Charlie Agnew...

And the Burch's: Sheila and Jerry...

Black Jack Wayne Davidson and Patty Sanders...

Pell, (comma) Amy and Pennell, (comma) Larry.

Novelty acts and characters at every turn...

And we didn't even have to pay 'em...

Steve Buer, Mike Gage and Dancin' Dave Cudaback...

Sandy Parker and Big Daddy Don Graham.

To the Class of '63, from our old home town...

May we always be humble and loyal...

For all the laughs and stories that keep getting better

Thanks to all...your pal, Bim Coyle.
