launches first Caxambas 30

   Faced with time pressures on Naples sailors, the Naples Yacht Club for this year cancelled its 90-Mile overnight to Boca Grande, but replaced it with a quick Saturday 30-mile race to Caxambas Pass G1 and back, which lasted about 8 hours from start to last boat to finish.

   Highlight of the day was a dramatic down wind start where competitors had to judge the casting range of fishermen on the "Committee Dock" vs. the need of some boats to pop spin before crossing the starting line. All divisions were in one start.

   These very unique photos are from the deck of Dragon Fly Plus, a 53 ft. Swan, running in the cruising division, who took best overall, even though they took time out to photograph the start. Non spin went to Bentley, Spin went to Vee Jay, Multihull to TriPower.
