The Day the World Came Together - The 350 Movement: October 24, 2009

On 24 October, people in 181 countries came together to speak with one voice on the most urgent issue of our times: the climate crisis. Through www.350.org, people in every corner of the planet coordinated the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet's history. At over 5200 events around the world, people gathered to call for strong action and bold leadership on the climate crisis. By the days end, it was clear people of all kinds in just about every place on earth are calling for a fair, ambitious, and binding global climate treaty. Janet was part of a research team that studied Sonoma County's workforce readiness to implement building energy efficiency projects as part of the Community Climate Action Plan and AB811. Janet will give a brief overview of the group's findings and how Sonoma County strengths and strong education/training efforts implemented with community collaboration can lead to strong results for the economy, environment and social equity.
