U14B Playoff Schedule, Sunday, March 24

Playoffs for the U14B Division will be held at Bishop Connolly High School on Sunday, March 24 from 12:30 PM - 4 PM.

Play-Off Rules

Preliminary single elimination games are 30 minutes, running clock, no timeouts.

In the event of a tie the result of the game will be decided through penalty kicks.

The final for the division will be a full game, in the event of a tie a ten minute overtime period will be given, no golden goal, followed by penalty kicks if game remains a tie after overtime.

USFF Regional Tournament News

Massachusetts scored two fantastic victories at the 2013 USFF Regional Futsal Tournament held in Wildwood, NJ on Monday, Feb. 19. The local New England Futsal Hawks U17 Boys from Wrentham, Mansfield and Upton and the Open Men’s Safira FC won their divisions in two highly charged finals thus qualifying for the Nationals in California in July 2013.

The U17 Hawks defeated last year’s National Champions, NJ Futsal Elite, by 7 to 3 score. The game was intense, but the Hawks mastered the Elite with goalie Daniel Sprague’s exceptional saves, Chris Doire’s phenomenal foot skills, Brendan McDonough’s articulate runs, Cole Booth’s speed and precise shots, Drew Humphrey’s agility and Alex Thompson’s strength and blocking abilities. The Hawks coach, Mirian Sousa, said that the team pulled together with amazing cohesion and speed to find holes in their opponent’s tough defense. It was an exciting game attracting a large crowd from all the Massachusetts teams present who cheered loudly for the underdog Hawks.

The men’s Safira FC Futsal added another title to its collection after defeating Massachusetts-based Expos by 3 to 2. This is the fifth consecutive regional championship for the two-time national champion Safira FC. In a game of finesse and skill, the men demonstrated unsurpassed footwork and scoring skill under intense pressure, attracting a large crowd of enthusiastic fans.

The New England Futsal Academy U15 girls also put on a good show. This bracket had the most teams of all, with ten premier teams from across the region. They were all excellent teams! The NEFA girls were in good shape up to the semi-finals, winning every game in the first phase with a total of 15 goals. Their heart-breaking loss in the semi-final to the NJ Tigers was their only defeat all weekend.

For those unfamiliar with the sport, futsal is a 5v5 version of soccer played on a basketball court. Futsal is an 80-year old worldwide sport played in the US for several years, but just recently taking hold in this country. Futsal is the great secret to developing soccer skills and finesse to work the special low-bounce ball in a small space. This USFF sanctioned Regional Tournament, second only to Nationals, is the most prestigious Futsal Championship in the US. Distributed in five regions, this yearly tournament draws highly competitive premier state qualifiers every year. The sport is growing in the country and this year alone, the Northeast region had its biggest turnout with 180 teams from 15 states.

South Coast Futsal Update - Games Resume on 2/24/2013

The South Coast Futsal League will resume games on Sunday 3/24/2013. Due to the February Break and teams attending the USFF Northeast Regional Futsal Tournament on the weekend of 2/16/2013 no games will be played on 3/17. An updated game schedule for the first week of games will be up tonight 2/14/2013.

League Futsal Games Cancelled for Saturday and Sunday

Due to the forecasted winter storm the Fall River School Department has closed all school facilities and cancelled all activities for the weekend. Therefore all futsal games for the Catholic Youth Futsal League on Saturday and the South Coast Futsal League for Sunday are cancelled. Please check website for updated schedules after the winter break.

please check game times and venue as the schedule for playoffs has been updated due to teams dropping from the playoff.

Games will be played at two venues. BMC Durfee High School and Bishop Connolly High School.

Preliminary and semi-final games will be 25 minutes in length, running clock no time outs. Finals are full games, 5 minute overtime, NO golden goal, in the event a draw remains a decision will be made through penalty kicks.

All referee decisions are final.

1. Only water is allowed in the field house at Durfee. This includes spectators.

2. Children need to be supervised at all times.

3. Use only the main entrance to the facility as side doors set off the alarms in the building.

Catholic Youth Futsal Schedule 12/15/2012

We would like to thanks everyone for a great start to the Catholic Youth Futsal 2012-2013 Season. The Saturday schedule below may have some minor changes as we await the response from some school coordinators as to conflicts with school holiday activities. Several schools during the holiday season have concerts and plays on the weekends.

A reminder to coaches and parents that children should be supervised at all times. Children who attend games as spectators should not be climbing on the red mats near the gym doors, or left in the foyer area to play with their friends. As a matter of safety, we ask that children be supervised by their guardians at all times!

South Coast Futsal League Schedules

Schedules for Session 1 of the South Coast League have been posted in the League Schedule section of the website. The link to the page is found below. I would like to thank all participants and families for your patience in awaiting schedules. The league makes every effort to allow late entries into the league which delays schedules. It is important to check schedules often as they may be revised due changes in venue. Please note that the facilities used to house the leagues are public schools and interscholastic sports teams have priority on usage. School sports teams often need to reschedule games which sometimes effect the league schedule. In the case of those changes we make an effort to update the schedule as soon as possible and post changes to the schedule on the home pages of New England Futsal and the league.
