It has been another years past, and another birthday has come and gone. Sure have missed you these past few holidays. Finally getting married, and Im sure you've seen every bit of it from the start. Just visited your gravesite this morning to share a few stories and to talk with you awhile about all your friends that come into the store. They tell me that you mentioned me with pride when ask, that pride is now mine of you. It's amazing how many friends a person has once gone that he never really knew were there while here, in your case they are many. Until our next visit.

The start of another week. I cannot believe you have been gone for almost three months. It seems I think of you all the time now. It does not seem real to me because I was not around you each day. That I know makes your absences worse for the ones that were. I start thinking about our times last summer when we got to talk because you were off work and I reach for my cell phone to call you. To much saddness I realize you will not answer.
I can only hope that you and Chris are having a great time in Heaven however, it does not make it easy for us let here.

Tomorrow will mark three whole weeks you have left us for your new home. I was scrolling through my phone yesterday to place a call and there was your name. At first I just thought ok Nick next, then it hit me Nick you have gone home.
I think of you all of the time and the silly conversations we use to have.
Mother's Day is approaching and it will be so bitter sweet without your gentle nature being there this year. Piper will be there and it would be wonderful to have you chase her around taking pictures of her like you did last year. I can just hear you say her name in your unique way :
"Piperrrrr" You are loved and missed by so many Nick.

First Easter without you here. I hope you and Chris had a great time together. I know Chris always loved his Uncle Nick and now you two are reunited and are riding the streets of heaven. Chris loved to ride but never could really afford to by his own bike. He had a small one when he was 14 as you might remember. I am sure the two of you are having a great time catching up on all of the times you spent together and the summer he stayed with you and Grandmother in Bristol.
Brother, I miss you so much but to look at all of the photo's of your life and to have had the pleasure to talk to some of your friends you are one loved man.
Go Nick with a peace that we can only obtain once we truly go home with our Heavenly Father. We are only earth bound for such a short time compared to the beautiful eternity we will spend together in Heaven. I will miss you so much until we meet again. Take care of Chris and make room for us all when we arrive one by one. I love you Nick

Hi, my name is Rick Wash, I'm from Cincinnati where Nick and I spent lot's of times together. In our teenage years having a friend who didn't want to go right out there to get into trouble was so hard to find. Hartwell had lots of trouble. I know Nick was glad to move to Georgia, but I've missed him. The three times we got together after he moved, first was my honeymoon with my wife Mary, and our four kids at Peach Tree Plaza in Atlanta. We seen Stone Mountain on Nick, then after he fixed a problem on my car we went camping, and seen Rock City again on Nick. The other two times were short week-end visits, but Nick always stayed in touch with me on the phone, asking me to come down to visit, go fishing, and ride bikes. Now we'll just have to wait a little longer. My heart goes out to his entire family and friends. By the assurance of prayer and faith in Jesus, the kingdom of God is coming together. I love you Nick, we'll see you soon.

Nick was a great friend to me. He was my confidant and gave me the best advice. Always a gentleman and a wonderful and supportive friend. I will miss him dearly. Mr. & Mrs. Whitener, you instilled values in Nick that I admire and try to imitate in my own life. I don't know of any finer person & friend than Nick.

Hey Nick,
Just letting you know that it's starting to sink in that you're really gone. It's tough little brother and it's hard to accept. I just can't believe it! You are so much alive when I look at your picture's and remember some of those times when they were taken. As my friend Jim said in his comments, you'll never be gone or forgotten if we remember your smile, ways and heart. That my man, I will always do. Especially the heart!
By the way, do you realize that you're smiling in almost every picture you've ever taken?

I am so very sorry for the loss of your brother William. My love and prayers will be with you. As I feel your pain as do my children as I have lost a son also Michael (39) in 2002 killed by a red light runner. My prayers go out to the family and your momma. A candle burns in memory of your angel.

Uncle Nick, It's so hard knowing that you're gone. It seems like yesterday we were talking on the phone and you were telling me how to fix my truck 200 miles away. There are so many memories that we shared together and I thank you for that. Even though I know you knew, I am just thankful that I told you I loved you before we hung up. The other night I stayed in our old room. I thought about you so hard that I could hear you tell me, "goodnight little buddy. I love you." You will be greatly missed and dearly loved. Nick, How do I tell you how very much my heart hurts that I cannot have our silly phone calls while you are at work any longer? I don't get to tease you about that beard you insisted on having and I nagged you to cut. You told me it made you look pretty. How is little Piper is never going to know the pleasure of your gentle nature? She thought you were so funny last Mother's Day taking picture's of her. There is too much Nick just know that I love you and will miss you until we meet again. I know Chris was very happy to see you arrive in God's Heaven and knows we all miss you both here. Please take care of him for your sister. I am sure he knows the ropes by now so I will be seeing you Nick.

my uncle nick i loved him with everything he was a great uncle and i will always remember him. we didnt have that many memories but the most memories i know is that he was there always when the family got together and i loved him for that. he will be missed by alot of people and loved. he was a big part of the family and a great person.

I have been a friend of Tim Whitener my entire adult life,No finer person walks this planet.I knew Nick when he was just a teenager and although I can't say he was a close friend,my heart goes out to the Whitener family.Mr.& Mrs. Whitener are wonderful people and I know this loss is hardest when it's your child.Nick is never gone as long as those who love him remember..his smile,his ways,his heart.May God bless you all during this time of healing.Jim & Jean Atkins

 Nick was a man;

That when he borrowed money he paid it back;

If he loaned you money he expected it repaid;

If you needed help he was the first one to arrive;

If you needed a shoulder his was broad and always available;

If you wanted to ride he was ready to go;

Nick was kind hearted but never a push over;

Nick was much more of a gentleman than most knew;

He was generous with his talents and time;

Nick was extremely sensitive and soft hearted;

Nick’s love was true, even to the end.

 

He was a person trying to deal with broken dreams and a heavy heart but at the same time truly trying to enjoy life. Nick had started to move on with his life when he lost his most important battle and we unfortunately lost him to a needless accident that will never be totally explained. 

Nick was truly a simple man but not a common one. He was strong, gentle, helpful a true friend and a loving person all wrapped up in one. He will be missed for all those attributes as well as many others. Yes, Nick is gone but not forgotten and we can only believe that there will be a reunion someday where we will all ride with him again!

 

The family of Nick Whitener would like to thank each person that came to his visitation, services and funeral. Nick is an extremely big part of our lives for which will never change. Our memories and love for him has been strengthen even more by knowing that he was loved and respected not only by his immediate family but also by so many of his friends. The out pouring of love, friendship, and respect of this quiet and gentle man was extraordinary and is extremely appreciated by us all. Nick’s family, friends, co-workers, along with his brothers and sisters from the road of life provided such a revenant and respectful setting that conveyed a strong message as to the character of this beloved soul that none of us will ever forget it. Nick’s departure from us was far too soon and even though he is in better hands, that doesn’t mean he will not be sorely missed. I can only say that I will truly miss “My Brother” and pray that his friends and families journeys are good ones and that Nick’s sprit will always ride with each of us. I will miss you “My Brother!”
