The Neighborhood Group Meetings offer the opportunity to learn new techniques, share tips, solve sewing problems, find great inspiration and make new sewing friends. The Neighborhood Groups are the heart and soul of the Chapter. We have 180+ members. At the present time we have 11 neighborhood groups. As a member, you may attend any or all of our groups. We have groups that concentrate on a wide variety of topics. Some groups have a more specific focus ranging from garment fitting, quilting, machine embroidery, community service projects, sewing/alterations, knitting, craft projects and chatting among other activities. Each neighborhood group is involved in a wide variety of activities. We have members at all skill levels of experience, if you are just learning to sew or you are an expert, you have come to the right place if you want to meet others who share your passion.
Yearly events include seminars and workshops to keep our members current with the industry trends. Events on the top of everyone’s list are trips to the NYC garment district, bus tours to places of interest including local fabric shops, sewing machine stores and notions and ribbon outlets. Last year one of our groups had a barn quilt tour which featured barns that had painted quilt blocks adorning them. We plan on doing a lot more!
