$2.00 Trolley along Alii Drive http://www.konaweb.com/forums/shuttle.shtml
19' Zodiac Tour Boat will let you swim with the dolphins or snorkel with the Manta rays. We've referred our guests to Chris Henry at Sea Hawaii Rafting 808 937 7809 http://www.seahawaiirafting.com/
Chris has received very good reviews from guests. They said he gives you white soft bathrobes and hot chocolate if you do the night time Manta ray snorkel...and he found schools of dolphins for them to jump into the water and have the dolphins swim around them. Tell Chris you are staying in one of Tim Butler's homes and he will give you the kamaaina treatment.
Dive or Snorkel with Manta rays (very safe and awesome) http://www.mantarayshawaii.com/ or snorkel and see Manta rays with 19’ Zodiac Tour Boat above.

City of Refuge (near 2 step. ) http://www.nps.gov/puho/index.htm Wonderful spot to snorkel called 2 step and also kayaking out to Captain Cook Monument is easy and awesome. There are schools of yellow tang around the monument. Pack a lunch. Or take hot dogs and bbq briquettes. You can spend all day…there are bbq stations…
Zip Lining through the Jungle In Waimea on Kohala Coast thru jungle.http://www.kohalazipline.com/en/index.php/tours/kohala-canopy-adventure This is a very popular adventure for every age.
Green Sand Beach (1 of only 2 green sand beaches in the whole world - and one is here in Big Island ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papakolea_Beach This beach is at the southernmost tip of Big Island, South Point. It is very difficult to drive to, but if you call Alfred Gouveia (a friend and local who grew up here on the Big Island) he will take you the 2 miles to the beach and give you a wonderful tour of all the other secret spots). I tried to drive it before I knew Alfred was giving tours with his toyota 4 runner, and OMG there are dirt ruts 2 cars high that drop off onto nothing! Then we thought we would walk it, but I've had some guests say that is a nightmare of dust and they didn't konw where to go and sprained their ankle. Better to call Alfred and get the "local" tour. He's a wonderful, happy person. It will be one of your most memorable activities! Alfred 808 937 0127
Luau in Kona The best one is put on by Island Breeze. They only perform on certain nights. http://www.islandbreezeluau.com/
Limo Tour of Island http://www.adventurouslimo.com/
Tim Terzi, owner is hilarious and knows the Big Island like the back of his hand.......you will be thoroughly entertained.
Observatory at Mauna Kea http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/mko/ Another "once in a lifetime adventure". A full 6 hour tour, usually around dusk. The stars are amazing and you can almost reach out and touch them.
To Tour the island: I usually take guests from Kona, driving towars Wiamea, stop at Starbucks in Waimea,
then another 15 min drive to to Waipio look out, http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Waipio-Valley-Lookout-Hamakua-Coast-Big-Island-Hawaii/index.html. It takes about 15 min at the site to look. Then we travel the highway to Tex's Restaurant for their malasadas (cream stuffed local style portugese donuts) .....http://www.bing.com/local/Details.aspx?lid=YN228x4734999
Then we go to to Laupahoehoe Point Beach Park, http://www.to-hawaii.com/big-island/beaches/laupahoehoepointbeachpark.php awesome park for about 1/2 hour visit...
Then to Akaka Falls http://www.gohawaii.com/big-island/regions-neighborhoods/hamakua-coast/akaka-falls-state-park About a 15 minute walk to the falls. NOTE. Lock your car and don't leave anything in view. My nephew had his clothes stolen out of his rental jeep. TAKE MOSQUITO REPELLENT
HILO Then we go into Hilo, drive around Banyan drive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banyan_Drive and head for the Volcano (sometimes stopping at Taco Bell in Hilo first)
Kilauea Volcano http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/kilauea/ Kilauea is often "going off" so check the web site first. If you are going to walk out to the lava, take water, lots of flashlights (that can last at least 6 hours)... Once we took high intensity flashlights, but they only lasted 3 hours and we had to walk out in the dark. VERY DANGEROUS, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FLASHLIGHTS AND WATER. If you get there around 3 PM, you can see and drive the park and then go to where the lava is coming out. Sometimes it is close to where you can drive, other times it is a 1 to 2 hour walk.
Then drive back via Highway 11 around southpoint.
