The home that the "Avengers" worked on at Forstall in the Lower Ninth Ward was completed October 7th! Carol Jupiter, the homeowner, is starting a new chapter in her life after over 4 years.  Welcome home Carol!  And thank you to ALL the volunteers who gave their time, effort, and some the crucial funds to see the project through to the end.  Watch the very emotional dedication of her home on video below (scroll down to the bottom of the page "Carol Jupiter Home Dedication").

Christina Huff, the site construction manager for the house on Forstall Street sent along this message about our friends from the "street". From Christina:

T asked me to get an address from your group. He would like to send a thank you note for the stove. I also thank you for his stove ... I have enjoyed a couple of his meals, which are amazing.

The group I had last week realized that Clarissa was making her amazing meals with only a hot plate and microwave and surprised her with a new stove as well. I should hit 250 pounds soon! LOL

After today's contributions from church and from Mission trip fellows and a few others who heard the story,  we found an online special and there is a new stove on the way to be delivered on Thursday. Tyrone and Rachelle were very greatful and Thanked God and sent us all their blessings. Britany, one of their daughters sends her thank you as well.

We have been home for less than 12 hours and readjusting to "normal" is hard.  I welcome back into my life my warm SOFT bed (over the prison mattresses at Olive Tree), private restrooms, a fridge to graze, a sofa to lounge on and click away at the remote, and most importantly my family.  However, I miss my communal living.  I miss the GREAT people I got to spend endless hours with, both working hard side by side, and celebrating Mardi Gras!  It is also hard to not think about what we left behind, the work we did and the families we did it for.  I think it is important that they are never too far out of my memory. 

I promised to create a place where we could, at the very least, share our pictures.  Please upload your pictures here so other people can see and purchase them if they wish.  I also found pictures to be the best way to tell the story of my journey to my family and friends.  We experience so much and we are so busy, often relaying our experience while it is happening is a challenge.  Also, when we return, so much emotion runs through us, we don't know where to start.

I encourage you to INVITE people to come to this website and explore.  I am no expert at this, it is my first attempt at using this service so please email or call me if you have a concern, question or suggestion!

Here's to us all going back to "normal" and surviving a week of work at our "real jobs".  I will be thinking of NOLA on Tuesday but happy I am NOT on Bourbon Street!
