Game Record

Regular Season Begins

After postponing several matches due to Swine Flu, our boys final got their South Florida United Division I season started.

The team is playing in the most competitive league in one of the most competitive US Soccer Regions in the country.  The days of ending the season 10-0 and 12-1-1 are over!  Which, by all concerned, is a good thing becuase the team's numerous talents are not refined nor built up by mercy ruling an opponent before half time.

A very solid 2-0 win against a quality Kendall team this past Sunday afternoon showed that the boys are back on form after several uncharacteristic losses.  With their record nearing .500 again at 2-3, we are looking forward to matches against the Plantation Eagles and Team Boca this coming weekend.  Two wins will pull us up to the top third of the table and provide a solid base to build upon after the Holiday break.

It was great to have the moral support of our missing Italian hard man, Marcello cheering from the bench.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family; we can't wait for him to suit up again.

Shout Outs

Florida Cup 2009

Saturday was a true test for our boys, providing us a view of where we are and where we can be with more hard work and commitment.

We learned two lessons: one, we can play with the best; two, choose your lunch venues with greater care!

Two more big matches today.

GO NOMADS!

Congrats on Making the Finals

Over the Labor Day Weekend our PBSA NOMADS U11 Red boys’ team made it to finals in the Clearwater Chargers Tournament Presented by NIKE.

Coach Ivan McKinley and Assistant Coach Andy Lukasik made sure the boys were prepared and both matches on Saturday ended up wins, with our boys taking all six points.  The morning match against the Clay County Soccer Club Rangers from Jacksonville was an exhibition of our team’s skill and they carried the positive energy over to the evening match against the host Clearwater Chargers.  Sunday’s match against local rivals Boynton Knights proved to be a tougher test physically, if not skill wise.  After a very ugly unending match we limped home with a 3-3 tie to nurse black eyes and bruises.  But, we were in the finals!

Monday’s final proved to be one of the best matches we’ve had the privilege to play.  We faced an extremely talented Sarasota team made up of select players.  After leading 2-1 our opposition proved the old adage:  speed kills.  If you made a mistake or misjudgment, these kids made you pay, and pay on the spot in cash!

Despite the 4-2 loss, everyone involved had smiles on their faces and shared hugs and high-fives.   Both teams congratulated each other and the parents swapped “Great Game”.  The match was an example of the true value of youth sports . . . a nice antidote after the previous evening’s ugliness.
