North Simcoe Flyers - northsimcoeflyers

A message from the President of North Simcoe Flyers

The North Simcoe Flyers Radio Controlled Model Flying Club was formed in the late 80's by a few local modellers who were looking for a place to fly. The Club has grown appreciably over the years and now has an average of 40 members per year. The skill level of our members ranges from beginner to expert. Our Club is registered with the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada (M.A.A.C.) which is the governing body for the R/C hobby in Canada.

The Club flying field is located at the Boker Farm just South of Midland at the Southeast corner of Mertz and Baseline roads. Look for a farmhouse on the corner. Turn into the second driveway (closest to Baseline Road) and proceed past the barn to our field. We have a well manicured grass runway, Club Shelter, Barbecue Pit, Washroom and plenty of parking. Visitors and spectators are always welcome and you can even have a test flight using our "Buddy Box" system. Throughout the flying season we hold various Fun-Flys, Family Barbecues and other special events.

We welcome new members and visitors to our Club. If you would like to come out to the field and learn more about our hobby, or just watch us fly, you are always welcome to drop by any Saturday or Sunday mornings during the Summer months. If you are interested in becoming a member of the North Simcoe Flyers or have any questions or comments, contact us by emailing North Simcoe Flyers.

New Members for 2013

As we bid farewell to some friends as they move on in life and leave the hobby, we welcome new folks to this great club.  I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest members for 2013; Andy Pollitt, Max Ackford, Luke Beamish, Brandon Beauchamp, Dennis Watson and Brian Rawlins.  We look forward to flying with you guys this year!

2013 Season Updates

It was good to see such a great turnout for the first meeting of 2013.  27 members present which must be a record number!  Appreciate the support, and I believe we covered allot of business in those two hours.  Congrats to Ray and Gary on winning the door prizes and hope those items get put to good use.  With the spring meeting behind us, I am sure we are all looking forward to flying.  It is always an exciting time of year as those winter projects begin to emerge and taxi out for the first time.  Keep us all posted on anything that is being done in the workshop by sending me pictures and I will post it on the website for all to view.  Hopefully the Model Contest picks up momentum, and we have a little competition which is always fun.  Speaking of fun, for those that have not experience club combat, come on out and watch, help out, or give it a try.  The planes are quick and inexpensive to build, and I can't recall having this much fun in a long time with the hobby.
