A message from the President of North Simcoe Flyers

The North Simcoe Flyers Radio Controlled Model Flying Club was formed in the late 80's by a few local modellers who were looking for a place to fly. The Club has grown appreciably over the years and now has an average of 40 members per year. The skill level of our members ranges from beginner to expert. Our Club is registered with the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada (M.A.A.C.) which is the governing body for the R/C hobby in Canada.

The Club flying field is located at the Boker Farm just South of Midland at the Southeast corner of Mertz and Baseline roads. Look for a farmhouse on the corner. Turn into the second driveway (closest to Baseline Road) and proceed past the barn to our field. We have a well manicured grass runway, Club Shelter, Barbecue Pit, Washroom and plenty of parking. Visitors and spectators are always welcome and you can even have a test flight using our "Buddy Box" system. Throughout the flying season we hold various Fun-Flys, Family Barbecues and other special events.

We welcome new members and visitors to our Club. If you would like to come out to the field and learn more about our hobby, or just watch us fly, you are always welcome to drop by any Saturday or Sunday mornings during the Summer months. If you are interested in becoming a member of the North Simcoe Flyers or have any questions or comments, contact us by emailing North Simcoe Flyers.

President

2012 Model of the Year Contest

Well we have decided to run this contest again - Model of the Year Contest (2012).  The idea is to promote new models and sharing of projects on the go with fellow club members to see what you are up to this winter in the basement.  Some simple rules and at the end there will be a prize(s).  For those that attended our awards banquet will recall that 2011 had some pretty decent prizes, so 2012 may be even better!  I assure you, it will be worth your efforts, and you will have until November to submit a completed project.

The Simple Rules:
- Open to all current NSF members (and I mean all!).
- Must be the owner and builder or assembler of the project
- Can be an ARF, Kit build, Scratch build - Plane or Heli (If it can fly it qualifies).
- Only one submission allowed per member
- Entry MUST be posted on the NSF website to qualify (more on that below)
- Try to make it a current project
- Don't be shy to show and tell, whatever it may be!
- Previous contest entries are not permitted.

All entries posted will be judged by attendees (peoples choice) at our 2012 Awards Night and Dinner on November XXth, 2012.  If the picture is not posted on the NSF website, it will not qualify, so get those entries in as soon as possible.  Votes will be tallied and prize(s) will be awarded that night.

To get your entry posted on the NSF website site, please send us a picture of your project to northsimcoeflyers@rogers.com along with some details like:
- Your name
- What the model is - Don't make us guess!
- Wingspan/Rotorspan
- Engine/Motor/Electronics used
- Little history on the model
- Anything interesting about the build/assembly/flight characteristics

If you are in the middle of building, please send us a picture and we will post it as well as update it as you progress to the finished state. Come on guys, let's see what you have on the building bench.  Even if it is a trainer, fun scale, war bird, civilian, jet, heli, foamie or anything else that can fly put it in.

Posted entries can be seen on the Pictures Section.

Good Luck and let's see those entries "fly in".
