Coach Poublon's Team & Player Development Goals
After studying the best modern trend and teams in the world like FC Barcelona and the Japanese women's national team We believe our POSSESSION based style is the best way to teach the game as it puts players under extreme pressure to move the ball around the field with a high level of sophistication forcing them to learn and develop creative ways of keeping the ball from the other team. Once players learn how to move the ball creatively, they are able to keep it for longer periods of time which forces defenders to chase the ball around the field. The more our players force opponents to chase them during POSSESSION style play the more holes there are to attack allowing our girls to maneuver to goal with ease. However our creative style also puts players in some very difficult situations every game. If the girls do not make swift accurate decisions or find appropriate soccer solutions the team is extremely vulnerable thus giving up easy goals to the opponent or often appearing disorganized.
Why play this way then? Coach Poublon believes each player needs to learn technique and utilize soccer solutions at this young developmental age. Coach Poublon also believes that forcing players to deal with tough situations makes them more creative and less afraid to make mistakes. Too many teams care about wins and losses instead of pure player development. Wins will come if our players are developed the right way. How we develop that is through strong fundamental skills training and games that will allow players to become creative and strong individuals and team players.
