Fall has passed pretty quickly this year. It was an exciting season! We kicked off the season with Gretchen and Matt's wedding. Sage was the flower girl, although the title is somewhat misleading since the flowers never made it down the aisle! Oh well! She looked cute and had a great time dancing into the night. Andy and I enjoyed the resort where the wedding took place and it was nice to see all of the family.
In October Sage got to try out her flower girl skills in another wedding. Andy's very good friend Jason was married in Green Bay. My brother and his family came up for the event, so Sage was able to meet her cousins Madison and Morgan for the frist time.
After Jason's wedding we settled in for the wait for our newest family member. We enjoyed some last moments as a family of three and made bets about when the new baby would arrive (Andy won). Lilian Kay finally joined us on Nov. 8th, the day before Amy's birthday. After a week of contractions that started and then stopped, she came pretty quickly into the world. We were only at the hospital for an hour before her birth.
On Nov. 9th, the family went hoe to celebrate everyone's birthdays with a turkey dinner and some cake...Sage's favorite part!! It was truly a great celebration. Lily is quickly finding her own place in the family. She is Sage's favorite toy ever, Mommy's baby, and one of Daddy's flowers!! Sage has taken to the role of big sister quite well so far. She seems more mature with every passing day!
So far Lily is eating well during the day, sleeping well at night, and is just a joy to have around. We are looking forward to watching her grow (but not too quickly)!!
We're looking forward to settling in for the winter and enjoying our family time!!
July has been passing in a blur. Andy and I have been keeping busy every weekend, and much of the week.
Recently, we enjoyed a trip to Spectacle Lake with Andy's family. It is a yearly tradition and Sage really embraced it this year. She loved the beach area around the lake. She cried when we would leave and tried to sneak down there whenever possible. She busied herself swimming and playing in the sand. We enjoyed our first weekend there with Andy's sister Gretchen and her fiance Matt. The weather was cool in the morning, but nice and sunny in the afternoon.
Hours after our return from camping we were lucky enough to have my cousin Jen and her boyfriend Tommy visit us. We took them out for some "up north" entertainment the first night they were here. We went to a lodge on the river for dinner and then to a really small bar in the middle of nowhere. At the bar, Tommy located a nostalgic video game and everyone played darts. When we got home we tried to play a game of Scrabble, but never made it all the way through. Sage enjoyed the evening at her best friend Parker's house.
The next day Andy took Jen and Tommy out shooting at a local outdoor range. They enjoyed trying to shoot some clay pigeons and cans with Andy's shotgun. After that we attempted to go canoeing on the Flambeau River. We took Sage with us because we were going to be gone several hours and wanted to share it with her. Andy tried his best to steer for both of us, but the water level was very low and we tipped the canoe on one of the first rocks we met. We knew if we continued it would be a VERY long afternoon...and Sage was already saying "all done." We went back to shore and sent Jen and Tommy down river on their own. They had a good time! I guess there are certain things that will have to wait until our kids get a little bigger.
After Tommy and Jen left our house we got ready to head back to Spectacle Lake. Andy's sister Sarah decided to make a surprise visit with her new baby Sophia. Andy rearranged work and we set off to visit with them. Unfortunately, the weather was rotten. It was cold and rainy. Not ideal for camping. Andy, Sage and I also got a cold. It wasn't the best camping trip on record, but it was still very nice to visit with family.
Last weekend Andy participated in his very first triathlon. It was a half ironman distance, which means he swam 1.2 miles, biked 56 miles and ran 13.1 miles. Andy did AWESOME. The 70.3 mile course took him 5 hr and 15 min...which is almost exactly the pace he was training for. Andy's family all joined us along the course and their help was AMAZING. We were able to see Andy in quite a few different spots and give him some support that he needed. Also, we had a good time. Those Noths can really pull together to make a good team!
Andy is taking a small break before preparing for his next race. He will be training long term for the full Ironman in Madison in the fall of 2010. Before that he is scheduled to participate in the Birkie, a cross country ski race. Also, he is looking for some other running races to keep him going! Very ambitious.
Baby Noth is growing well. I am feeling and looking huge already. The baby is extremely active and likes to be stretched out as much as possible. It will be interesting to see how the next few months progress. We had an ultrasound and everything looked good. As long as everything goes well, the next time we will see the baby is in early Nov. when he/she makes his/her appearance.
Our garden is getting big, but all the cooler weather has been hard on the tomatoes and peppers. We aren't expecting the bumper crop we had last year, but are hoping that the sheer number of plants we have will help us out. Our raspberries are producing right now. Each night we go outside and pick a bucket full of raspberries. I have made jam and have been freezing the rest to enjoy this winter. We've also enjoyed our shares of fresh berries. It sure is a treat to have them right in the backyard.
Here's to a quieter August and a bountiful harvest!!!
Love to all,
Amy, Andy and Sage
