We are getting closer
Well, now that all of the carpet is in and looks great, we have to finish putting all of the craft and game supplies away. We got a good start on Wednesday night, but there is still more to do. Wednesday, May 25th is another work night. We are hoping to finish organizing the storage room and maybe do a little more cleaning too.
Replacing carpet is not as easy as you think!
Well, thanks to a grant from Serve Nebraska we were able to pay for the new carpeting that went into the learning room at Club Edefy. We had a hard working group of youth and adults help us that day. I will tell you that taking aret out that has been glued down for that long is no easy task, but we did it, and the new carpet looks great! Only a few more project left to complete.
We are getting there
Well, now that we have had another workday the progress is really starting to show in all areas of club edefy. We managed to finish almost all of the painting that will need to be done, and we even installed new flooring in the bathrooms. There are a number of small projects left, but we should hopefully be done by June.
"Not In Our Town" Makes the News!
During our recent trip to Club Edefy to prep the space for renovations, Lincoln's Channel 10 News joined us to find out what this project was all about and how it was going to benefit our community. The complete story will air on the evening news on Friday, March 26, 2010, - but you can see a synopsis here:
http://www.1011now.com/home/headlines/89049697.html Thank you to Gene Cotter for helping us get the word out about this project, and thank you to the people of KOLN/KGIN for sharing this worthwhile project with the people of Lincoln!
Work Has Begun!!!
On Friday, March 19, 2010, our official work on Club Edefy began. A group of youth and sponsors worked late into the night prepping Club Edefy. The group swept, organized materials, repaired some equipment, and did many other necessary tasks so that both we and the staff at People's City Mission would be ready for the next stage of Club Edefy's renovation/remodeling. Please check out the picture album on this site to see all our hard work!
Wonderful support
As of March 20, 2010, we have been been blessed to receive over $3600 in donations towards the renovation and repairs we have planned for "Club Edefy." Thank you for your generosity!
