Instead of the usual e-mail, I'm trying out this site to share the convocation photos. Plus, I'll be adding albums containing photos from past convocations, meetings, and fun times together. You can also your photos to this site. It can be used as a resource to pull appropriate photos for publications, e-mails, and other promotion efforts. To view the photo albums, click on the "Pictures & Videos" tab on the bar along the gop of this page.
It was great to be back in New Orleans where we had our first convocation 35 years ago!
We had very good speakers such as Fr. Michael Himes, Sr. Helen Prejean, Michael Patin, Bishop Matthew Clark, Dan Mulhall, Sr. Joan Curtin, Bishop Gregory Aymond, Robert McCarty, etc., inspiring liturgies and prayer services, great music with the likes of John Angotti and Ken Canedo, interesting table discussions regarding the future of catechesis.... and, of course, it helped to be in such a Catholic and unique city as New Orleans! Great memories were made!
Now that I've had some time to reflect a little bit on this convocation, I can say that there was a lot that went very well... Fr. Martin, the Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir, our hosting of the convention Opening Prayer, the Awardee Reception that turned into an excellent dialogue with RCL, the Opening Reception, Garrison Keeler, Sr. Angela Ann, most of the Catechetical Resource Day, Carol Eipers and the Issues Forum, the Award Banquet, etc.
Of course, there were also things that didn't go as well as we would have liked, and we'll talk about those some more at our June meetings. Jot down your thoughts now while they are still relatively fresh.
E-mail your members about the convocation. Thank those who attended, fill in those who didn't, and set their sites on New Orleans!
It'll be good to get together in June when we don't have the pressure of the convocation!
Blessings of the Easter Season,
Kevin
