The Orange County ATV Association is a family-oriented social club/group of Off Road enthusiasts who get together throughout the year. The group was started in Southern California in 1982 and has been going strong ever since. While most of the members are from Orange County, the club welcomes everyone and has members from all over Southern California and Arizona.
From October through May, the group has monthly trips mostly in Glamis with occasional ventures into hard pack areas, such as Barstow, Ocotillo Wells, Truck Haven and Hungry Valley. The club members have a mixture of quads, bikes, sand rails and 4 X 4 off road (Rhino type) carts. Rides are scheduled through out the day for different skill levels from beginner to advanced and are lead by experienced rider/leaders. Riders are required to wear proper protective gear on all rides. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Other activities at outings, depending on participation, include Trick-or-Treat, Pumpkin Carving, Pumpkin Bowling, Easter Egg Hunts, Turkey Golf, Pot Lucks, Raffles, and movies.
Summer, June through September, has the club gathering for pool parties or a beach trip. Many of the members also have water toys, so a trip to the Colorado River usually happens at least once a year. Other social events held at members homes include 4th of July and Christmas parties.
Each year in November, the Orange County ATV Association hosts the Glamis Poker Run, which is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to meet new friends. Proceeds from the poker run are divided between the American Sand Association, The San Diego Off-Road Coalition, and CORVA, all organizations dedicated to protecting OHV riding areas. The OCATV Assoc. also participates in area clean-ups to ensure that areas remain open.
The group meets the second Tuesday of every month at Fuddruckers in Buena Park, CA. From the 91 Fwy, take Beach Blvd north to Orangethorpe. Meeting starts at 7:30. A small membership fee provides benefits such as a monthly newsletter and a member web site.
