Oceanside Starlings Volleyball Club

The Oceanside Starlings volleyball program is for young ladies that cannot afford to play in a regular USAV Junior Olympic program. We are a non-profit organization supporting North San Diego County.

In January 2008 we began with one team of nine girls ranging from 9th through 12th grade. This dynamic group of girls played their hearts out at every tournament and took 10th place out of 25 teams in the U18 division National Tournament. The two seniors from 2008 team are now attending college. The 2009 year brought great interest from girls in the community and our club grew to host 3 teams; U12, U16 and U18. We had one senior during the 2009 season and she is currently attending college. 2010 season brought us to 5 teams, 1 - U18, 1 - U16, 2 - U14 and 1 - U12 teams. May 2011 be just as exciting.

Oceanside Starlings is not affiliated with any volleyball club other than Starlings Volleyball Club, USA.

HISTORY OF STARLINGS VOLLEYBALL CLUB, USA

San Diego Starlings is the largest Junior Volleyball Club in the nation. We began with a single inner-city team in 1996. Starlings now serve over 2,500 girls in 38 clubs across the nations.

The guiding concept has been to provide an opportunity for girls (ages 10 to 18) to participate regardless of socioeconomic background. Club dues are a fraction of most Junior Club costs and no girl is turned away because of inability to pay.

The Starlings philosophy is a holistic one: competition is good but sports should also be fun. Finally, an athlete should seek to develop all her talents, and, for this reason, we proudly promote our annual Literary/Art Contest.

Since its inception, over 200 girls have received collegiate volleyball scholarships.

To provide the equal opportunity for girls from diverse, lower, socioeconomic environments to train and compete at USA Volleyball's Junior Olympic level; to encourage teamwork, health, positive life skills and academic achievement; to establish member clubs throughout the nation that are community-based and self-sustaining.

Mixed Bag Design Fundraiser

Oceanside Starlings Volleyball is doing a Mixed Bag Design fundraiser to help with fee's and cost's for those that may not be able to afford to play.

You may order bags online and have the products shipped directly to you while still helping individuals in need.

To receive credit for an order, simply provide Fundraiser ID # 55272, as well as player's name, upon checkout (it will be on the Review and Submit Your Order step).

Sales sheets from Coaches and Players need to be turned in during practices on March 17 & 18. Bags will be delivered in 3 weeks once order is placed.

Starlings philosophy is we will turn no girl away because of the inability to pay.
