Can it be? I had all intentions of getting a new blog up and rolling after the New Year..and here it is February! Well here is a quick run down on what 2009 has had in store for us so far!
Kyle has been EXTREMELY busy with work..a good thing financially, but we miss him! He & Luke are growing their business and hoping this year will be another great one. He hasn't had any time for his music but has been connecting with some of the old gang from his Aimed days on Facebook. He will be 35
next month!! He has been spending a lot of time at the neighbors enjoying learning the fine art of cooking southern cuisine and making a damn good mixed drink! He is waiting patiently for the weather to warm up enough to get back into the water, as we all are. He & my Dad have been really working hard at getting our attic space converted into our new MASTER BEDROOM!! I sooo cannot wait! It will be awhile but they are doing an awesome job making the best use out of our little beach casa. He has been schooling Makalei in cooking, which she really enjoys and teaching Lilah what "good" music is.
I am back to work semi-full time. I am working about 32 hours a week as a nanny for a family with 3 children. The schedule is pretty nice and no weekends is a huge plus but it is hard to leave the baby everyday
. I have been trying to get my scrapbooks updated and am totally looking forward to next weekend when I am going away for a 48 hour crop! I have not read a full book since before Thanksgiving, that stinks. I am back to taking my blood pressure meds twice a day..no fun at all. I forget at least once a day, thank God for Kyle. I will be the first in line for our stretch of birthdays..turning the big three-four on the 20th. I am looking forward to the warmer weather again and hoping to get more beach time this year, now that Lilah is more portable!
Makalei is still "mini-me". Boy was my mom serious when she said I would give birth to myself. She definately has many of my negative characterisitcs and all of Kyles good ones. She is artistic, musical and intense..loves to cook, hates to clean and has a smart ass comment for everything. She is a total animal activist and spends her tv time watching Animal Planet. She donated most of the money she got for Christmas to the ASPCA. She is spending a ton of time on pageant events (which I cannot wait to end). While she enjoys the attention of the crown and title, she does not enjoy having to speak at events or have her photo taken. Both definate musts for a pageant queen. She was doing fantastic in school but this last marking period she faltered a bit. She seems to be having a hard time focusing on school instead of daydreaming about her next grand adventure as a world renound dog whisperer or something. Still, her grades are great and she continues to surprise us with her amazing sense of humor and compassion. She will be 9 next month and has chosen to skip the traditional birthday party and go on a weekend trip to NYC to American Girl Place. I may need to re-mortgage the house to get her there but she is beyond excited.
And baby Lilah is as perfect as ever. The child is just unbelievable. She will be a year old in just 7 weeks! She is cutting teeth, eating us out of house and home, cruising around the house like a maniac and making us smile every minute of the day. She is always so happy despite having had chronic ear infections for the last 4 months. She is no longer in daycare but stays at home here with her Nee-Nee which she loves. She cannot get enough of Makalei and thinks she is the greatest person in her little baby world. She is growing like crazy...already pushing 20 lbs and wearing size 12 months. She loves to torture the pets, get into the trash and play with anything loud, obnoxious or off-limits. She sleeps a solid 12 hours a night now..HALLLLLEEELLLUUUJJJAAHHHH! The girl is just a dream.
As a family, we are missing Connecticut (but not the snow!) and our family & friends away but are hoping this little blog will keep us all in touch so check back often and see what's going on on the NC shore :)
Who knew we sucked so bad at bowling??
Kyle, Makalei & I spent a saturday at the bowling alley and proved to everyone why we should NOT be involved in physical activity! We had bumpers and I still didnt even manage to whoop my family. Makalei & I were only 6 points apart lol! I think it will be awhile before my bowling days stop consisting of just the WII and not the bowling alley.
