Ghibli Museum, Mitaka
Ghibli Museum is a commercial museum featuring the Japanese anime work of Studio Ghibli. 2007-10-14

Look! THE Robot from Laputa!
Located in Mitaka, a western suburb of Tokyo, Japan, it was opened in 2001. 2007-10-14

Main entrance of the museum
It is a fine arts museum, but it does not take the concept of a regular fine arts museum. 2007-10-14

Ghibli Museum
With many features that are child-oriented and a sprawling & mazelike interior, it's a playfully created place.

Ghibli Museum
Centered around the motto on the museum's leaflet "Let's lose our way together", it has no set path or order of viewing.

Ghibli Museum
It seems to be primarily a Japanese tourist location, as though the museum brochure contains different languages.

Byakkotai Rokechi - Tsuruga Castle

Welcome to Tsuruga Castle
In the Edo period the Matsudairas lived in it. During Boshin War, people had entrenched inside to fight their enemies.

Take a peep!
The first castle in Aizu-Wakamatsu was built in 1384 by the feudal lord Ashina Naomori. 2007-10-12

What a beauty!
The original castle had a seven-story tower which people said resembled a crane in flight. 2007-10-12

It looks pretty from every angle
During the Boshin Civil War at the beginning of the Meiji Era, the castle was besieged for a month by shogunate troops.

When it was finally captured the new Meiji government ordered it to be demolished in 1874. 2007-10-12

The sad story of Byakkotai
20 young Byakkotai Warriors from 2nd Shichuu (upper rank) Squad at Iimori Hill had mistaken their castle was on fire.

They've lost their hope!
They thought their clan had lost the war, so they've committed ritual suicide (harakiri) there.

But it was a mistake!
Their castle had not been breached. Only their city was on fire at that time!!

Their bodies exposed for 3 days!
Since the war hasn't ended, villagers didn't collect their bodies immediately.
