We will be working on making our decorations for the Blue and Gold Ceremony!  Our Blue and Gold Ceremony is on Friday, February 10th!  Don't forget to wear your Class A Uniforms! 

We will be working on creating our decorations for Blue and Gold tonight!  It will be such a great event for you to attend.  Be sure to bring your family to share in the celebration! 

We are going to have a great time tonight!  You are going to learn about tools, build a tool box, and learn how to fix something.  What about a spooky treat or two?  Come check out the tricks and treats for tonight!  See you then!

 

What a great weekend!  I hope that everyone had a great time this weekend.  It was great to see our new Scouts earn their Bobcat award!  They worked really hard on it.  I really enjoyed spending time with everyone hiking, skipping rocks, finding fossils, fishing, and just getting to know everyone better!  Thank you to everyone for helping out during the weekend. 

I will see everyone tomorrow at our Den Meeting.  We will be having fun and working on Games, Games, Games! 

What a great night!  I hope yall had as much fun tonight as I did.  Our boys worked on their Den Doodle, the Den Flag, completed Achievement 3 and celebrated their hardwork on selling popcorn.  Although most of the boys did not appreciate the Buttered Popcorn Jelly beans they were all good sports about trying it.  I promise to have something better next time!!!

Welcome Bears of Den 6!  We are looking forward to a great year!  We will be meeting for this one time on Wednesday September 14th at 6:30pm at Beaver.  Mr. Swallow and Den 9 will be joining us for a night of fun and learning!  Mr. Swallow will be covering the rules and requirements for you to earn your Whittlin Chip!  Please make sure to wear your Class A uniform, bring your Bear book, and wear your listening ears! 

We also wanted to say what a great job you guys are doing selling popcorn!  Den 6 won the first pizza party last week!  Keep up the good work!  Don't forget that each scout needs to sell $250 worth of popcorn for the Pack.  Everything over that will go into our Den account to help cover our Den Activities.  We have so many activities planned for this year!   So keep up the good work!

Don't forget that if you want to participate in the Pack Kickball game that you need to sell $400 of popcorn by September 19th!

 

What a great time we had at Twilight Camp! Thanks to all the parents who joined us for Friday's dinner time and the fun egg drop contest! Way to go scouts for doing your best and starting your Bear journey! Make sure to check out the scrapbook for some fun pictures!

Camp Cards Fundraiser:

Please make sure to check in with Mrs. Hermann to let her know how your camp card sales are going. She will enter your name into the district prizes once you have sold over 25 cards. We have until Saturday, May 21st to sell! Remember to DO YOUR BEST!

 

Spring Campout April 8-10

Saturday Meal Plans: Breakfast will be done on your own. However, our Den Lunch will consist of Campfire Pizzas (cooked in a campfire sandwich maker), Carrots and celery with Ranch Dressing, fruit, chips, lemonade/tea and dessert. The den will cover the cost of our lunch.

The Pack Dinner has been decided. We will be having a Texas Ranger Appreciation/Favorite Sports Team Dinner. Please be sure to wear your Texas Ranger jersey or the attire of your favorite sports team. REMEMBER ALL SCOUTS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THEIR OWN WATER BOTTLE (THE PACK WILL PROVIDE LEMONADE AND WATER).

Conservation Award:

We are working hard to earn our conservation award by completing 2 of the following electives: #13 Birds, #15 Grow Something, or #19 Fishing. Please check your wolf book to see what you have not completed and do your best to complete it with your parent. We will be meeting at Mrs. Hermann's mother's house for an upcoming den meeting to plant and raise a flower bed. More details still to come.  

We just want to say that you boys are the greatest!!  You have finished all of your Wolf Requirements.  We are so proud of you!!  We really enjoyed getting to act out the skits with you and watch as you all did a great job on trying to come up with the right choice!!  We know that you will continue to make GOOD CHOICES! 

 

Don't forget that we do not have a meeting next week.  We have our Pack Skating Party on Saturday instead.  Please see the Calendar for details.  Also, don't forget to work on your homework next week.  We are working on Elective 13 - Birds.

I hope that everyone had a great Holiday Season!  I am looking forward to seeing everyone this Tuesday, January 4th at 6:30pm at Beaver for our Meeting!  We will be covering Achievement 12!!  This is our last Achievement to cover in order to earn the Wolf Rank!!  I am so excited!!! 

 

Parents, Please make sure that your child has completed Achievements 1 - 11.  They need to have completed all 12 Achievements in order to earn their Wolf Rank.  The boys will be receiving their Wolf Rank at the January Pack meeting on January 24th!!!!

Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone!!  I hope that you are enjoying your holiday!  Today has been such a great day for me and my family.  I hope that you are remembering to enjoy the time with your family.  Families are such an important part of your lives.  Remember to thank your Moms and Dads for all that they do for you.  I wish you and your families a great year for 2011.  I can't wait to see everyone again in January.

We're so proud of all the wolf scouts for making their tool boxes! We hope you will fill it with all your fun scouting tools and memorabilia.

 

Thank you to all our den families for coming to our Den Holiday gathering at Cici's Pizza. The handmade ornaments were so cute! Good job scouts! We also had a great time at Santa's Village! Thanks to all who were able to attend.

 

Homework:

Homework over the winter break will be Achievements: 10 and 11.

 

Next Den Meeting:

Tuesday, Jan 4th at 6:30pm at Beaver MST. Please do your best to arrive on time for this meeting. We'll be completing our final achievement #12 to earn your Wolf Badge!

Just a reminder to continue to fill out your Chore Chart for the month of November and create a collection of 10 items. You'll need to bring both the chore chard and your collection at the next den meeting on Tuesday, December 7th at Beaver MST.

Also, your homework for this week is to complete achievement 9 with your parents:

9b - WITH AN ADULT, check your home for hazards and know how to make your home safe

9c - WITH AN ADULT, check your home for danger from fire.

9d - Practice good rules of street and road safety

9e - Know the rules of bike safety.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone for picking up your popcorn in a timely manner.  I was able to get all of the popcorn out of my mom's garage today!!  Yea!!!   Now it is time to deliver all of the popcorn.  I hope we can all get the popcorn delivered quickly too.  :) 

 

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at tomorrow's meeting at Beaver.  You should have received an email yesterday about the upcoming meeting.  Also, don't forget that we have a Pack Meeting next Monday, November 15th!!! 

Wow!!!  I had such a great time tonight, I just love bowling!  I hope you guys had a great time too.  I also wanted to send out a big Welcome to our newest Member Landon Griswald.  We are so excited about him joining our Den. 

I hope you enjoyed the "Behind the Scenes Tour" as much as I did.  It was really neat to see how everything works.  I have everyones score sheet and will pass them out at the next meeting. 

Don't forget that this is the last week to sell popcorn!!  If you are ready to turn in your sheets and money, please call me and we can set a time to meet.

Hello Everyone!!

I am so excited about our first field trip tomorrow.  I just love bowling!!  I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Bowling Field Trip tomorrow, Sept 19th 6:15pm to 7:30pm at Rowlett Bowl-a-rama 5021 Lakeview Pkwy Rowlett TX 75088.  

As our first Wolf field trip we will travel to Bowlarama in Rowlett and work on completing elective 20g and the bowling belt loop requirements.

 

The manager will provide our den with a tour of the bowling alley at 6:15pm sharp. He will give us great information to help teach the wolf cubs all about bowling. Please make sure to arrive a few minutes early.

 

Field Trip Agenda:

6:15pm – Tour of the Bowling Alley

6:30pm – Check out shoes and pick a bowling ball (Elective 20g & Belt loop requirement 2 &3)

6:40pm – Explain to your leader the rules of courtesy and safety for bowling (Elective 20g & Belt Loop requirement 1)

6:45pm – Play a complete game with your den and enjoy the pizza and popcorn

7:30pm – Game over, we hope you enjoyed learning and playing a game of bowling with your den.

Please don't forget to bring your wolf book to show you have completed the Homework assignment from our last meeting, 3b-c.  We will be checking 3a at next weeks meeting.  3a required two weeks of keeping up with your health habits.    

At tomorrows meeting we will cover part of Your Flag and Feats of Skill. Since we will be active, please have your son wear his Class B Pack T-shirt. Don't forget to bring your water bottle as well.

We also have a special treat tomorrow. Our Cubmaster will be visiting our meeting and bringing pizza for our First Pizza Party. We will have pizza at 7:15pm. So please feed your child a snack before the meeting. The boys all did a great job selling popcorn!!!

Your Flag and Feats of Skill:

2a – Give the pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the USA. Tell what it means.

-and-

1a - Play catch with someone 10 steps away. Play until you can throw and catch.

1b - Walk a line back and forth. Do it sideways too. Then walk the edge of a board six steps each way.

1c - Do a front roll.

1d - Do a back roll.

1e - Do a falling forward roll.

Do one of the following (f, g, h, i, j, k, or l):

1f - See how high you can jump.

1g - Do the elephant walk, frog leap, and crab walk.

1h - Using a basic swim stroke, swim 25 feet.

1i - Tread water for 15 seconds or as long as you can. Do your best.

1j - Using a basketball or playground ball, do a Chest pass, Bounce pass, Overhand Pass

1k - Do a frog stand.

1l - Run or jog in place for 5 minutes.

Our Pack Meeting is this Monday, September 20th at 6:45 pm at Walnut Glen Academy.  Please don't forget that our Den is going to be setting up the chairs for the Pack Meeting.  Please try to arrive between 6:15 and 6:30pm to help out.

Hello All!

I hope that everyone had a good time selling popcorn this weekend!!  We really had great weather for it too.  If you did not make it to the Popcorn Rally, please get with me to pick up your forms.  I am willing to meet you. 

 

I also wanted to remind you that we will be meeting this Friday, September 17th at 6:30pm, at Dickey's Barbque on Plano Road at Arapaho for a Family Get together!   Kids eat free with an adult entree purchase.  Hope to see everyone there!!!

Hello All!

Don't forget that our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 7th.  We will be meeting at Beaver Math, Science, and Technology School located at 3232 March Lane in Garland TX at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. 

We are also welcoming several new members!!!  We now have a second Assistant Den Leader.  Her name is Judy Raney.  Judy is a former Den Leader from another Pack and a current Girl Scout Leader as well.  We are also welcoming four new Den Members!  James Raney, Trey Emes, Gavin Greenwood, and Caleb Patton.  We are looking forward to meeting everyone real soon. 

I would also like to thank our current Assistant Den Leader Trisha Mojica for all of her hard work on the Den 6 website and helping me with the planning of the meetings.  The meetings for the entire year have been planned and will be post soon. 

Please make sure to check out our Pack and Den websites often.  We will be making changes and posting new events frequently.  Remember that our Pack activities are not automatically added to our Den calendar.  So make sure to check them both. 

We would love for you to check out the Boy Scout Website, National Scouting Museum website, and the City Paper for upcoming events that our boys might enjoy.  We are all very busy with our day to day lives and could miss an interesting activity that the boys might enjoy.  Please know that YOU are more than welcome to help us find and plan trips or activities with our boys.  We would like for our Den family to be an extension of your family.  As always, your comments and suggestions are welcome!

Den 6 will be meeting at 6:30 pm tomorrow.  We will be working on Achievement  - Games, Games, Games.  Please wear your Class B Uniform.  The boys will be working hard learning new games! 

Den 6 is working on completing the requirements of earning the conservation award. We visited the Texas Discovery Gardens and learned about the butterfly habitat, and the botanical and vegetable gardens. The boys also enjoyed a scavenger hunt and answered many questions about the stages of butterflies and different trees and plants. Great work Wolves! We're one step closer to earning the  convervation award!

Today we completed elective #17 Tie it Right! We learned to tie an overhand knot and a squre knot, tie shoelaces witha  square bow knot, wrap a package and tie a stack of magazines, tie two cords together with an overhand knot, tie a necktie and wrap the end of a rope with tape to keep it from unwinding. Each of the scouts did their best and learned each one. Great work wolves!

What a great time seeing the scouts plan a den Valentine party to achieve Elective 9. The scouts decorated, brought and ate snacks, made a valentine craft bag, passed out valentine cards and played Mouse Trap board games. Great party planning scouts!

We took our second field trip to the Garland Police Station to complete achievement 4f. The wolf scouts were able to ask questions to an officer about his uniform and police care. Then they toured the communications gallery where all the 911 calls are answered and how police officers are dispatched. What a great experience. Thank you to the Chief of Police Assistant and Officer Ted who gave us the tour.

Den 6 continues to work hard on completing the wolf trail. We learned about the food pyramid and saw some great collections from our wolf scouts. We also worked on our Den flag by ironing on all the patches we've earned thus far.

There was lots to do at our Den meeting this week! The wolves were presented their first bead after completing achievements 1, 2 and 3. Then we took our den pictures and worked on our den doodle. We also sang cub scout songs and learned the song "America." Afterwards the wolves got a speciall Halloween treat from the den leaders.

Den 6 joined the pack at our Fall Campout at Purtis Creek in Athens, TX October 8-10th. On Saturday, the wolves cooked their breakfast, then traveled to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries to fish, see the aquarium show, and much more. Then we headed back to Mrs. Hermann's campsite for the wolves to help prepare hamburgers for lunch! Later we attended the Bobcat Ceremony where Caleb was awarded the bobcat badge and had a great den campfire! On Sunday we had pancakes with the pack followed by belt loop college and a visit from the Park Ranger. The weather was great and we all enjoyed a great campout! Thank you to all the Leaders and parents for all your help!

Den 6 met for the second time this school year to complete Feat of Skills achievement and work on the "Your flag" achievements. They also got to enjoy a special Pizza dinner with the Cub Master for winning 1st place for the den with the most popcorn sales thus far. Thank you for hte pizza party Mr. Sanderson. Den 6 went to dinner at Dickey's Barbque to spend time getting to know each other.  Despite the air conditioning being out, we had a great time.  The food and fellowship was awesome!!!  The boys went outside afterwards and played a few games with the help of two of our Girl Scout siblings. Thanks girls!

Don't forget that Heather Burke is making/selling blankets for our den.  She brought a sample tonight and they are beautiful. Contact her if you are interested.

Den 6 had their first meeting and are on their journey to become Wolves!!!!  The boys got to know each other a little bit.  We have 7 new members this year!!!  Our Den Cheif Jarod Saye also helped the boys with their Flag Ceremony.  Then they started in right away to learn or refresh the 8 Steps to becoming a Bobcat!  They put together and played a game that would help them to learn the Cub Scout Promise and Law.  Using Craft Sticks, they placed one line of the promise on each stick.  They used the sticks as a puzzle and had to put the sticks together in the right order to read the promise.  I know that our boys are off to a great start this year! 

Den 6 worked on achieving their Family Travel Belt Loop & Pin at the National Boy Scout Museum. They each wrote a list of what they would need and want to pack for a 3 day trip. Then they entered their destination onto mapquest.com to see how many miles it would take to get to their destination of choice. Aftewards they went to an airlines website to see how much it would cost to fly. Then they compared the cost of driving and flying along with the difference of currency.

 

They also brought pictures of different places each scout has traveled to and decorated them onto a poster. Later we took a tour of the Museum and enjoyed seeing all that is to come as a boy scout.

Den 6 met on July 22, 2010 to continue working on the BSA 2010 "Making a Difference" Cub Scout patch requirements. So far our wolves have earned the Achievement ribbon and have completed the requirements for the Outdoor and Service ribbons. We are now working on the Character and Leadership ribbons. We hope to have them completed soon.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming Pack meeting on Monday. I cannot wait to hear what your den has been doing since our Fall Campout. Be sure to practice your Cub Scout spirit song and sing it LOUD and PROUD! Keep up the great work Den 6!

Great job Den 6! I wanted to thank you for participating in our Pack's "Good Turn" Service Project yesterday at Advantage Storage. We had a great time working together, all while showing the owners just how much we appreciate what they are doing for our scouting. I spoke with Mr. T-Tom after everyone left and he said we did an "EXCELLENT JOB!!" helpng him out. I am so proud of each and every one of you. Photos will be posted on our Pack site.

Good morning Pack 1978!

I hope everyone had a fantastic time at our Fall Family CampOut, just as my family and I did! We had an amazing time hiking, throwing pies, earning our Bobcat patch, becoming junior Rangers, whittling, fishing, EATING, and so much more. I am so grateful to all of the leaders and parent volunteers for your work hard in making this a memorable weekend for all of us. Neither the 18-wheeler nor the rain could stop us from having fun. This is scouting at it's best.... Making lasting memories!

I heard your first Den meeting went great.  Keep up the good work!  For the new Scouts make sure you are ready for your first rank advancement the Bobcat by campout so you can participate in our special ceremony.  Go Wolves!
