Welcome to Cub Scouts Pack 629!

"Building Tomorrow's Future Today"

Since 1974, Cub Scout Pack 629 in Bellevue, WA has been a charted organization of the Somerset Community Association.  It is a member of the Cascade District of the Chief Seattle Council. We have a great program for boys in grades first through fifth. Most its members attend Somerset Elementary School.  Nevertheless, the Pack is available to any boys interested in joining Cub Scouts who attend other schools and live in one of the Somerset neighborhoods. We hope you enjoy this website and invite you to come and see just what scouting is all about.

Donate Cub Scout uniform pieces

Pack 629 is inviting all Cub Scout families to donate the Cub Scout uniform pieces that they don't want to keep. While some families, like to keep them, others would rather not. The Pack can accumulate the unwanted uniform pieces and save other families a little morning by putting them to use on a uniform.

Recent Pack 629 Community Service

Arbor Day Earth Day - April 21, 2012. Cub Scouts and parents, joining hundreds of community volunteers, planted trees and uprooted blackberries at Lewis Creek Park, on a gorgeous day with blue sky and breeze. Each volunteer received a T-shirt, ate a delicious lunch (vegetable soup and chicken curry soup), and had fun going around eco-stations and booths. Bellevue Mayor, Mr. Conrad Lee, and other dignitaries planted a tree with "golden" shovels and designated the day as "Arbor Day Earth Day".

Scouting for food - March 2012. Cub Scout Pack 629 teamed up with Boy Scout Troop 638 for the annual food drive benefiting Hopelink, March 19 and 26. Helping other people is part of the Cub Scout promise.  This event is provided an opportunity to talk to your Cub Scout about helping other people and what that means, then let them experience the helping, and if possible go to Hopelink to see the whole picture and that hunger is a problem right here in Bellevue.

Friends of Scouting - Feb 2012. Cub Scouts and Parents of Pack 629 raised $1500+ to support Boy Scouts of America programs.

Scouting for Seniors- December 2011 & 12. Cub Scouts from alternating Dens visit seniors at the Garden Club. The Cubs play games, entertain the seniors and present holiday cards from all members of the Pack. Compassion is part of Scouting.

Storefront food drive - November 2011. Cub Scout Pack 629 teamed up with John L. Scott for a food drive benefiting, November 12-13 and 19-20. Helping other people is part of the Cub Scout promise.  This event provided an opportunity to talk to your Cub Scout about helping underprivileged people. Together with John L. Scott's home pickup, we collected 1,700 lbs of grocery items and about $600 cash.

Japan Relief fundraising - April 2011: Cub Scout proposed and participated in fundraising for Spiritridge PTSA eathquake relief. ~$3,900 was raised and sent to the American Red Cross.

Bellevue City Project - April 2011. Botanical Gardens. Bellevue Parks sponsored ‘Arbor Day,’ and Pack 629 was responsible for planting trees on the East trail that borders the play field. We also helped clear an invasive ‘British Ivy,’ from the park, and discovered wildlife such as Tree Frogs, and Earth Worms. For many, it was their first opportunity to plant a tree. All of us shared a great experience working together. After the work was over we were each rewarded with a T-shirt and a hot bowl of Chili. We were also graced with members from the City Council who lauded our efforts and the importance of taking care of our environment.

Holiday Gift Drive - Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic - December 2010 & 11.  Cub Scouts and Parents gather holiday gifts for the underserved. In 2010, the Pack contributed over 40 high-quality holiday presents
