The Pasini Preserve is 200+ acres of pristine wild Canadian savannahs, located about two hours north of Toronto. The Preserve is home to a broad range of native wildlife including bear, deer, beaver and minnows in the streams. Hawks and geese are regular visitors.
After years of negotiations, Ciro Pasini, owner of Pasini Preserve, gained government permission to build on two acres of the Preserve. Ciro is the very busy founder and president of international businesses. Ciro often spends an average of three weeks a month traveling around the world. Given this hectic schedule, Ciro wanted to create a quiet, peaceful retreat which would give him a respite from his high-pressured work. Plans for the Preserve include relocating and the restoration of a 100 year old timber frame barn where he will house and care for the wild horses due to arrive from Montana.
With an educational and professional background in engineering, Ciro researched quality log homes with an intensity not often seen. In the end, he chose True North Log Homes due to their quality artisanship and their unique sealing system guaranteeing and energy efficient home. He wanted his new home to have all the advanced technology features of a True North Log Home, while retaining look of log home from years past with hand-hewn logs and chinking.
Ciro chose Timeless Mountain Homes not only because he knew we sold and built True North homes but because of our willingness to customize to the level of his vision. With Ciro’s background, we were able quickly to design the home to take advantage of his beautiful property while giving him the layout, which will accommodate his family and his various needs through the years. We then created log samples to get the degree of hand hewing to his satisfaction. This is the first hand hewn True North Log Home and it has turned out to be a spectacular look.
Cathy Fagan assisted Ciro and his daughter Sabrina with the initial design, organization of the many ideas and requirements for this home. Once they had a plan they felt would meet the needs and desires, it was turned over to True North in house designer Gord Laxson to complete the engineering and design process which allow the creation of working plans. Timeless Mountain Homes will continue to follow and assist on the interior design and furnishing process.
This will be a highly energy efficient home. In addition to the geo-thermal installation, Ciro will be installing 10 KW of photovoltaic solar panels to supply power to the home. He will be able to sell the excess solar generated electricity to the utilities while he is traveling.
