Welcome to this site dedicated to sharing the work of Compassion International in releasing children from the limitations and hopelessness of extreme poverty. I am a child sponsor and child advocate for Compassion USA. My Journey with Compassion began in 1993 with the sponsorship of 8 year old Kristel Mae in the Philippines. I had no idea then what God had in store for me as my love for these neediest children grew and grew. My husband and I added two more children, Tapan Das in East India in 2010 and Youbina in Haiti in 2011. One of my greatest joys is exchanging letters with them. Their photos are on my refrigerator and I pray for them daily. Something I never thought would happen became a reality in Feb. 2012. I would actually get to visit Kristel Mae and other Compassion children in the Philippines! Read about it on the PHILIPPINES page.

Child Sponsorship Programs

Currently more than 1.3 million children are in the sponsorship program with about 50,000 waiting for sponsors. Through the support and encouragement of a sponsor to a child, and in partnership with a church in that child's community, this program focuses on the long-term needs of children in poverty including:
*Spiritual Growth
*Education and vocation
*Relationships with others
*Self-discipline
*Personal health

Child sponsorship programs are located in these beneficiary countries:
Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Columbia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, and Uganda.

CHILD SURVIVAL PROGRAM

Designed to protect the child from the time of conception, this program not only saves lives but helps insure healthy pregnancies and gives vulnerable babies a healthier start in life. At-risk mothers receive:
*Prenatal and ongoing health care
*supplemental food
*hygiene and nutrition instruction
*job-skills training

A Journey with Compassion: to the Philippines and Back

Presentation at First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City was well received and 13 children were sponsored! Thank you to Susan C. and Cathy A. for their help at the Compassion Table.

WGTS Radio Marathon

I helped answer the calls coming into the station as listeners would hear about the children in Nicaragua where 3 new Child Development projects have just opened. Many of the children are orphans living with relatives and all of the children desperately need the support and love of a sponsor. It was wonderful to talk with so many callers who were moved to sponsor one or even two of the children. I love talking about Compassion so it was an exciting day! One project was completely sponsored and now they are on the next one!
