Oh how they are growing.....
I swear I can see them growing by the day. They had their first steak yesterday. I was given some beef that people were nervous about eating because they 'thought' it thawed out in the freezer, (I've been eating it fine). So I shared two whole Porterhouse steakes with them, raw of course. Oh my, they loved it. They are now running and playing and yes, arguing too. It's too funny. I feed them a bowl of food, milk replacer mixed in, and hamburger or turkey in the morning. They gorge themselves so aren't interested in a bottle. Then at lunch I give them a bottle and then offer them more food. They are drinking a whole bottle now. At dinner time they get a meal again and before I go to bed I offer them a bottle. They are not always interested in the bottle though, and I made sure they have some dry kibbles to offer for during the night snacks. They are real piggys to say the least. I still have two males for sale, but I'm getting attatched to them...... lol One is brown and should look just like mom, the other is black and should look just like dad.
Such a joy they are.....
Wow, each day I can actually see them growing! Not only tall, but wide.... lol That big boy is such a piggy, I can't beleive all he puts away and then tries to walk after doing so. But he is not too fat or big to run around with the others and play with their toys. When I howl before their feedings, they always howl back at me. They are eating their kibbles great. I mix it with their formula, ground turkey and/or hamburger till it's all soft for them. They love it! I have to pull them back from it even, if I don't they won't drink from their bottles. They are develolping such personalities! Playing with toys, their favorite being a stuffed 'puffer fish' dog toy that is as big as they are! so fun to watch them. The two that went home to spend the rest of their lives with their new families are doing great! The new owners seem to be more then happy with them. I still have two males left. A brown one and a black one. Send me an email if you might be interested.
'Jasper' goes to new home today
The new owners will be picking up Jasper today. Over 15 years ago, they bought a wolf hybrid puppy from us. Last year they had to make the hard decision to have to put to sleep from old age. Any wolf living to be 15 has led a very good loving life! Last year they came to us to see if we were still raising wolves. That was when Pawnee and Willow were only a year old. They seen them then and decided immediately they wanted another puppy. It's been a long wait, but they are finally taking home a new baby boy today that they have already named Jasper. I know he will have an excellent life at his new home. We will miss the little guy though, he has such a personality to him!
All the puppies are now eating about a quarter cup of ground turkey plus their milk replacer of course. Tonight I think I will introduce them to hamburger. They are SO big. Yesterday Pawnee weighed in at 5.10 lbs. at the vet scales. Vet said I was feeding them too much as Jasper peed and peed on the exam table, lol....
Puppies make their first 'kill'
I let the puppies take a bite of ground turkey today. Ohhhhhh they loved it so much. Of course they were trying to SUCK the meat as that is how they are used to doing to get their meal but it's always entertaining to watch them eat their first meal. I will start them slowly on this meat and and add ground hamburger to it probably tomorrow. Then I will add soften 'Taste of the Wild' kibbles to the diet later for them. They are growing so fast, it's unreal. They are drinking at least 8 oz now at a feeding, usually more. The second boy goes home tomorrow morning. Sad to see them go, but so happy they are going to such good homes and the new owners are so excited to be getting them.
teeth, teeth and more teeth......
The pups are growing daily. You can see it AND feel it. Their teeth are more then 'coming' in now, they actually feel like pins and needles biting down on you when they suck on your finger. They are drinking about 4.5-5 oz. now. That big male is such a piggy too.... lol They now howl when I howl too, unless of course I want to show someone how they do that, then they get bashful.... They are all getting quite the seperate personalities too. 'Jasper' has the most personality so far, wanting to play with my fingers and bite all the time. They are all walking good now too. They mature so much faster than dog pups. Just amazing to watch this happens daily.
New owners arrive
I am so happy to have met the new parents of the only girl puppy we had for sale. Dan and Katy drove all the way from Montana to pick up their new little girl. It was such a pleasure to meet them and show them around our little farm here. They even went into meet Pawnee and Willow in person and got kissed all over their faces. Well Dan got left out in the kissing department, but Katy got kisses all over her face. (pictures coming soon) We couldn't have picked out better parents for this little girl if we were to have picked them ourselves. The pleasure was all ours... and thank you Dan and Katy for the book... What an awsome couple they are, and I am confident they will be great parents to the little girl as well! Congrats Katy and Dan... enjoy!
TEETH?
Yep, thats right, they are starting to poke through now, and let me tell you, they are needle sharp, and when they grab your finger and start sucking hard on it, you can sure feel them teeth. They are also drinking about 4-5 oz a feeding. I took two to the vet yesterday for just a vet check so I can give that to their new owners who are coming to pick them up next week and the Dr. said they look great. One weighed 3.11 and the big black one weighed in at 4.14! They are also starting to show personality. 'Jasper' was playing a little today and this a.m feeding the brown male was too. They are starting to walk instead of waddling but this has a bit more practice to go before they take down their first kill! lol.... ya gotta love these little guys!
Yesterday (Wed) & today
I had a busy day yesterday traveling and visiting with my daughter. Because of this, I took the puppies with me knowing they would need fed every 3-4 hours. My daughter helped bottle feed the puppies as she has done since she was about 5 years old. (she is now 23). The pups are doing absolutely great! They are drinking 3.5 oz. to 5 oz! The big boy of course is drinking the 5 oz. He is so big, it's hard to pick him up because he is just a ROUND ball. Yesterday they also all opened their eyes. Although they can't see yet, it's nice to see an eye looking back at you even though it's a blank stare... lol
Today I tried to take pictures, but they are so hard to get good pictures of them as they are either sleeping and they just look like a black blob laying there, or they are too squirmy to get a good shot without being a blurb. I will ad more soon. They are still wanting fed 5 times a day, but going to try and get them on 4 times a day, but they will be the ultimate deciders on this. I will also worm them today. So far, 3 pups are sold, leaving to males still for sale. My personal pick of the litter is still for sale too.
Pups are doing great!
Pups are all sucking on bottle great. There is a HUGE black male puppy that is a real tank. I can't believe how big he is and FAT! The piggy even took 3 oz. last feeding. Two of the pups are taking turns at eating real good, then fighting it. But they are all eating about 2 oz. now. I will feed them before I go to bed tonight and that will make 5 feedings for them. New pictures coming soon.......
Bottle feeding new pups
Last night I attempted to bottle feed the pups, but I knew it would be a waste of time as they have to be hungry to want that 'forgien' nipple in their mouth. A couple of them started howling during the night and this a.m. they seemed hungry. So bringing out the bottles and nipples, something I haven't done in years now brought back so many memories. I had forgotten their sharp little toenails digging into my arm as they grasp that nipple and start sucking. This morning they were still fighting that plastic nipple, but after 20 minutes or so of trying to convince them that this where where breakfast lunch and dinner comes from, I got three to start sucking good. They other two were not so convincing, but I am sure the next feed time they will figure it out. I was able to get 1.5 oz. - 2 oz. down the three, and 1 oz. down the other two. This is an extremely important time because I need to be sure they get enough down them, yet not over feed them. I almost forgot too, to burp them after feeding. This is always so cute to me as they actually do respond to a patting on the back with a 'uuurrp'. Then of course I need to stimulate them to go potty. Seems like they hold every drop till I do this, then it really comes! Ohhh... what fun all of this is. It's been so long. I will feed the pups now about every 4 hours. Hopefully they will catch on to this forgein plastic nipple.
Taking pups away to start bottle feeding
March 16: Today around 2:00, Bob took all 5 pups away from Willow. This is not a fun time for us although we are excited to start bottle feeding and handling the pups, in the past, it's been such a sad time for 'mom'. The actual taking of the pups went well, although Willow was of course upset about it. The pups are exeptionally big, fat and healthy looking. I don't think we have seen such chubby pups and they are so big too. But watching mom out there pace and howl trying to locate her pups is so upsetting for me. All night long she howled. I haven't had a wolf this upset before when pulling the pups. It's heartbreaking, but is necessary in order to ensure the bonding process with human/wolf relationship.
March 14, (continued)
March 14, (continuted) Bob was able to take the males away from Willow quite easily today so the new owner could pick out the one he wished. Willow was anxious of course, but other than that it went fine. But.... we soon discovered that we have 4 males and only one female. We origanally thought we had 3 males and 2 females, but we learned different today.
Wolf Diary
March 4, 2009: Came home late afternoon and discovered Willow had 3 puppies and was possibly having more. She didn't really want us to bother her, so we didn't.
March 5: We could see 5 puppies, but we didn't bother her any further. (see pictures taken today)
March 7: We approached her den and I sat down in the entrance. She allowed me to pet them. But I didn't want to push it any further.
March 9: I went to do a sex/color check on the puppies. As far as I can tell we have 3 male puppies and 2 female puppies. It looks like 2 black pups, 2 dark pups and a light male puppy. (see pictures)
March 14: We will be looking for the male puppies today as the owner of pick of litter is coming to make his puppy choice today. We are just hoping all goes smoothly and she allows up to take them out of her sight for a couple of minutes.
March 15: We will be pulling all the pups today or tomorrow to start bottle feeding/bonding. I hate it when 'mom' is heartbroken with this move, but it's necessary in order to create the bonding between new owners-human and pups.

Hi Chris and Bob!
Oh my gosh my heart goes out to you! What a difficult decision to have had to make! I can imagine how gut wrenching it was for you both. Yes, people get older, people get wiser, peoples lives change. What we could do in our 20's and 30's is not necessarily what we can continue (physically and mentally) when we get into our 40's and 50's.
In my humble opinion, it sounds to me, in all your considerations and reasons, that you have made the right decision for you and Bob. Yes, absolutely the moral, and responsible thing to do for these gorgeous creatures! When you and I spoke about your having to rescue two of your pups, and what these babies went through, made me sick to my stomach. Can't blame yourself though Chris! You know yourself, people are NOT loyal to their animals like animals are to their owners! Never will be! What's that saying? "The more people I meet, the more I love my pets!" Sooo true! NO breeder has 100% intuition on who is going to be a great choice as new owners and who's not.
As well, your choice to stop breeding, I feel is not only good for the animals, but will prove to be a good choice for you and Bob personally. As wonderful a life this has been for you, now you and Bob will be able to spend time with one another again. It'll be a great new chapter in the lives of Chris and Bob! I commend you for making this life changing decision.
Your choice to stop breeding, at least for now (?), as difficult as it obviously is, may prevent and may help to control wd's out there needing to be rescued. I believe to keep breeding Willow each year would be too hard on her. I'm sure in your heart, you know this too. But I want to say, your responsibility in making this decision is nothing less than admirable! Only a breeder who LOVES and wants the very best for their animals would make such a tough decision. With your good work ethics and dedication, you've both made Howl-O your legacy. You've loved, cared for, cherished, and held yourselves responsible for all your animals. In doing so, you've opened the eyes for soooo many of us! You guys are wonderful breeders!
When we bought Legend from you, our first wd, we couldn't have been happier with his beautiful temperament and health! As a first time wd owner, I was so happy with the open communication you provided. You were always there when we needed more education in how to care for our wd's (Legend and Spirit), you were always available when we had questions. You became friends!
So??? We bought another! lol!
Spirit is amazing! She is sooo opposite, personality wise, to Legend, not a bad thing! lol! They are so intriguing! Each of our wd's bring something different, something equally wonderful to our family! As challenging as our lives have become, with being wd owners ... We are sooo IN LOVE with our babies! And it's clear just how much they too love us!
Thank you Chris and Bob, Willow and Pawnee!
We are FOREVER grateful!!
You're in our hearts! We'll be thinking about you and we'll pray for you!
We'll stay in touch friends!!!

Well another year has come and gone, it saddens me to say that Bob and I have decided to not breed anymore after this 2012 litter arrives in March. With more and more states making wolf/dogs illegal to own, it's becoming harder and harder to find perfect homes for them. Also, with having to rescue two of my prior wolves pups from a home that at one time I considered perfect, it has really put a damper on my feelings that I once felt I was a good judgement as to where our pups go. We don't want to contribute to the problems that wolf/dogs often go through when they don't find that perfect home that they so much deserve. Bob and I feel that if we bring pups into this world, we are FOREVER respondible for the pup until the day it passes! That means making sure it is in the best home possible, for the REST OF IT'S life! And if that means we have to go and rescue it for whatever reason, and bring it home here for the rest of it's life, than so be it. However, we are getting older, and slowing down a bit, and our health, (especially mine) is not what it used to be! To bring in anymore w/d shouldn't have to be an option for us for these reasons. We will if we have to, but I don't want to bring on more pups for all the above reasons! The remaining wolf/dog pups that we have found homes for I feel are in great homes now and hopefully for the rest of their lives! Thank you one and all for all your support you have given us AND our pups! They are NOT the mean, vicious animals that the media and others protray, just take our pups as an example!!!

They're heeeerrreee! February 15, 2011, 9 pups were born. We have blacks, greys and 3 tan ones. We won't know the sex ratio until 2/24 when we pull them to start bottle feeding them. I do have a few more openings now for pups if anyone else is interested. I never expected this many pups again!

Hey guys..... and gals, lol looks like we might be having a litter in Feburary again. Towards the end I am guessing! Pawnee was showing a lot of interest in Willow starting Dec. 15th sooo........

Hello there, i love browsing through your pictures and reading your blogs, its truly a special feeling knowing there are other people who appreciates the beauty of wolves. We have a hybrid wolf ourself, she just gave birth to 17 puppies, this was a true shocker for us. I have been bottle feeding them all, whew. it is sure alot of work although i enjoy every miniute of it. i created a site of all the puppies and the mother if you are interested to look through, maybe send a feedback...this is our first litter ever.
Again, i truly admire you and your devotion to these beautiful companionships.

Hi Cara and all, The 3 (Four) Amigos are doing absolutely fabulous. Since Cisco got beat up by mom and dad, he has been with the Amigos and they all get along GREAT! They are constantly playing and seem to know that they are all bro and sisters. They couldn't get along any better. I just posted a couple pictures of them, but my batteries went dead so I didn't get to pick and choose for good pictures, cause I didn't HAVE any good pictures, but I promised to post some so here they are until I get some better ones!
9/11/2010 12:35:20 AM - 002020566053
Would really love to hear how Cisco is doing with The 3 Amigos! And is he still missing his Momma and giving kisses to her through the fence Christine?? Do you ever put Willow into the pup's area for a visit??
9/11/2010 12:31:56 AM - 002020566053
Isn't that funny Christine that your wolves have never bothered with their incisions cause that's exactly the same as Legend! I never once saw him bother to lick the incision! I was sooo happy! The vet said he would be out cold for 4 hours so we left back home (only a 2 minute drive) and we got a call an hour later! They were very surprised and so were we - but we were very glad to take him home with us. He was up and playing (I should say tormenting - lol) with Icey the next morning! It all went well! Just strange to see our baby with no balls - lol Of course Ludwig hated the idea! I guess most men do! lol
9/8/2010 6:24:36 PM - 002005594716
Cara, we have never used the cones and I honestly don't think any wolf would leave them on. Our wolves have never bothered their insisions, but I am sure a cone would cause them much uncomfort and cause them to want to rip off that cone possibly causing an injury to themselves. For a dog maybe, but I would say never for such a high percentage of wolf.
8/18/2010 8:42:27 PM - 002020566053
Thanks Christine for sharing yours and Bob's experiences with neutering your wolf dogs and wolves! How do you feel about the 'cones' which keep them from licking their incision?? Do you use them? How have they worked in the past? Or do they not work at all? I can not see Legend keeping one on at all!

8/12/2010 4:13:57 AM - fb:621915473
Hi Cara, good question and I am happy to share this to you all and strongly suggest you find a vet that will work with you on this. Because most of the wolf pups by this age shy away from strangers, yet they trust you as thier parents, we feel it is VERY important to be with them as much as your vet will let you. Thankfully, over the years of using the same vet (who has learned WITH us as we've dealt with these issues) all has gone will with spaying/nuetering! This is how we do it:
We make sure the vet knows what they are dealing with! That they are NOT dogs and when they wake up at this size, not many cages or kennels can hold them if they are left there alone!!! This was not hard to prove the first couple of times! So, with that being said, we take them to the vet at exact time of appointment so there is no waiting around in waiting room We go in exam room and help get him/her weighed. (Vets rarely put hands on them, we do it all) Then they calculate the amount of drugs to give them and depending on the wolf, we either give them the injection or they do. (IF the wolf is snappy we give it to them, othewise they do) We then STAY in that room and talk to our pup to let them know it's ok, and to comfort them until they are completely out! So the last thing they see and hear is us! They then carry them back to the surgery room and operate. I tell them each time (even though they already know) that I want to be called when they can lift their head. I am usually at the vets before this happens. So that when they are able to see/hear again, it's us, not some stranger! We then take him/her home and keep a close eye on them in the house until they start terrorizing it! lol...... we then put them outside in a kennel (out of weahter) and keep a close eye on them for rest of day. Depending if it's male or female, we decide if they can go back into wolf pen before night comes. As I said before, chain link, wood fence, etc.. will not hold them IF they want to get out. Being in pain, with no 'buddy' and penned up in a strange place is the time that they would WANT to escape. And of course a female goes through a lot more of a surgery then a male, so it's quite a delima as to what to do with them for that first night. Now for some of you, keeping them in the house is not a problem as they come in frequently anyways. Our don't. When we have to, we keep them in the washroom so we can hear what they are doing. For the most part though, we return them to the pen where they are used to being. This way they are calm and want to just sleep. Most importantly though for all of you, vind a vet that will work with you on this! You should NOT leave your wolf at vets till the evening, it will do more harm then good. Good luck. I have never had a problem with spay or neutering.
8/12/2010 2:32:48 AM - 002020566053
Hi Christine and Bob! Well, reading your update on Cisco, my gosh, I was almost bawling! lol! No joke! I am soooo glad it didn't turn out worse! I found it to be soooo interesting and was REALLY glad that you shared your story... thank you! Glad to hear the outcome is a happy one with the Three Amigos and Cisco united! How wonderful to hear they're doing well!
Thanks too for getting back to me regarding the neutering. Ludwig and I are getting Legend neutered August 21st! Yup! With the research I had been doing and with reading your confirmation, I felt it would be pertinent to our future and his to have him done...and as soon as possible! What I would like to know is this.... Please let me know ... with ALL your years of experience with wolves and wolfdogs, and getting them neutered and spayed, HOW DID YOU DO IT??? lol! I mean, I know how the procedure is done, lol, but with them being scared, obviously you and Bob were not able to leave them at the vet. You would have had to have been there the whole time - no?? We are taking Legend to an Emergency Animal Hospital and it sounds like they know what they're doing... Thank god!
What happens normally, in a regular vet (I'm guessing you use a wildlife vet??) is they have you drop off your dog before 9am and you can't pick them up till about 5pm. For atleast 7 of those 8 hours, the dog remains in a large cage / kennel. I refuse to do it that way - my baby boy would probably have a freaking heart attack - wolf shock for sure!!! Wouldn't you agree with that Christine??
Well THANK GOD Dr. Ranna seems to know what is required in such cases. What we're doing (under his instruction) is, Saturday, at noon hour, I'll bring Legend in (the Emergency Animal Hospital is only a 4 minute drive from our house) and will be there while they put him out (that always scares me though Christine since I know just how dangerous it can be if the amount of anaesthetic is misdetermined) is that a word?? lol!! Anyway, once he's asleep, I'll go into the waiting area and 1 to 1.5 hours later, they'll call me in to be with him for when he wakes up! I was so happy that they were willing to accomodate this. Makes me feel 100% better Christine! He is also getting tattoed, plus he has a microchip in him already. So we just wanted to know how you go through this 'event' with all your wolves and hybrids!
I didn't want to just email this to you, as I believe the other 'parents' could learn from your reply and our experiences.
Christine and Bob, we are really looking forward to hearing about YOUR experiences past and present! Did you ever have a bad experience with the procedure of neutering and spaying?? Or did the 'event' always go well for your wolves / hybrids / yourselves (lol) ??? Oh yeah, I will be home with Legend for at least 4 days perhaps the whole week - just to watch over him! As well we didn't know if we should use the cone for Legend that they typically use on dogs to keep them from licking and scratching??
8/2/2010 5:35:55 PM - 002005594716
Just an update here: Blackfoot got an injury on her leg about a month ago that required stitches, so we took her in and at same time got her spayed. All went very well. So a few weeks later, we took in our other two pups to get spayed/neutered as well. That went well too. The pups have been running loose in our yard (8' perimeter fence around our entire area) during the day, and at night they would spend time in their 'puppy pen'. So our plans were to put them in with their parents and Cisco when they were healed good. That pen is about an acre big. It's huge. In the mean time, tension had been building with mom and Cisco. Mom, 'Willow', had been bossing Cisco around for a few months, but thats all it had been, just bossing him around, nothing serious. But in the last few weeks it's been getting a little more fussy, but no injuries at all, just a lot of 'talk'. Cisco would rarely talk back to his mom. Well last week, during the night, something happened and Cisco had a horrible gash on his hip, by his butt. Muscle tissue exposed with some even missing. When we entered pen, Willow again was 'talking' to Cisco, and then Pawnee (dad) came up and tore into Cisco's hindquarters! In the past, when we had 42 wolves here, we had noticed when a fight might break out, the whole pack would get involved and attack the wolf on the bottom! So this is instinct for whatever reason. I think this is what Pawnee was doing. We took Cisco to vet and they did surgery. After he was out, they shaved him, finding other wounds that required stitches and some punture holes. We were horrified and saddened! Were we going to have to seperate them? This is mom, dad, and very submissive son. When we brought Cicso home we decided to try it once more to see if it was going to continue, but also decided to put the pups in at same time, hoping this would take the attention off of Cisco and devert it on the pups. (They have never hurt pups, mom seems to recognize them) So next day after Cisco was awake and alert, thats what we did. And the plan was successful, TILL THE NEXT DAY! Willow get jealous whenever Cisco gets close to us, and this is when she 'yelled' at him again. We watched closely, but Pawnee did nothing. Then I had company who wanted to see the wolves. They had a lot of kids. Dummy me told them to start howling and the wolves would howl back at them. Well Cisco started to howl, but this brought in Pawnee who once again attacked Cisco, ripping open his stitches and causing another injury. Sigh.... I felt horrible. We took Cisco in, they restitched him, and while they were doing that, we came home and devided the pen. Parents have 1/3 of pen, and the 'kids' have the other side. Cisco is healing nicely (4 days now) and is enjoying his younger littermates. He still goes over to visit his mom with ears laid back and submitting to her through the fence. You may all ask why we put him back in with mom and dad? It's family, we have never seen such behaviour. Mom wasn't the one doing the damage. It was dad, when mom would fuss. The question then, was this an indication that dad was telling son to leave the 'pack' and this is where the lone wolf comes from in the wild? Or was dad just saying 'I am alpha, don't forget it son'? If so, it was horrible injuries requiring three layers of stitches!!!
Cisco seems to be enjoying his little buddies now and is healing well. I am forever learning from these guys, even after 30 years!!!

Hi Cara, I sent a reply to your question here the same day you posted it, but I see now it's not showing..... dumb web site.... lol Sorry, anyways, to answer your question, years ago we had a BIG booboo happen here. Our 10 month old male pup bred his 10 month old sister!!! Now let me point out here that it was a pack of about 75% wolves. But still, it was a huge shock to us, not to mention misfit/deformed pups that resulted. Ever since then, we spay/neuter asap. Not only for that reason though. I believe that if you spay/neuter early, they will never have that alpha temperment start, so you will have a mellower, less aggressive 'pet'. I feel if you wait, they may start to think alpha, and then bam, you spay/neuter them and there is confusion for a while, or possibly forever if you wait for a long time! (MY theory, perhaps not proven.) But I do spay/neuter asap!

lol! Mum's the word Christine!! lol! Poncho wont hear it from us! Glad to hear they're doing great!!
Hey Christine, is it true that if you wait past 8 months to get the pups fixed, they will always think they are dominant? As we've all heard, people say that getting the males 'altered' when they're younger can tame any aggression or dominance they may have as a teen or adult. I had heard, and I'm sure you'll be able to let me know if it's true, that if one waits over the age of 8 mos, it'll then make no difference in taming their dominant side.
Anywho, this is what I'd heard regarding 'regular' canines. Not sure if the same can be said regarding wolves / wolf hybrids?? What's your thoughts on this??
7/18/2010 4:35:58 PM - 002005594716
Hi all, just an update on our 2010 pups. We took them into vet to get spayed and neutered. Poncho weighed in at 64 pounds, Cheyenne and Blackfood was 54 lbs at 4.5 months old. Big kids they are!!! Surgery went well. (Ummm... don't tell Poncho I told you this, but the vets told us that his testicals were SMALLER then a Pugs that was a year older! They were DIME size..... how funny!)

Glad to hear it all worked out Christine and Bob! Thank god the guy was smart enough and thoughtful enough to contact you instead of just selling him to someone else! It's wonderful hearing about how the pup wouldn't stop licking Bob! I think that's just awesome! Obviously soooo attached to you both! It's quite clear he's made you two his mom and dad! That's nice! I was reading "About Us". and you mentioned in 2007 you bought 5 pups. What happened to the other three? Ludwig and I couldn't remember if you mentioned whether you got Willow from Thornland as well?? Who were her parents Christine?? If I remember correctly, Pawnee is from Isis Bluemoon and Jeremiah?? Or Gabriel?? Just trying to gather pieces of their lineage. I love gathering photos (parents and grandparents) - putting together a dvd of Legends family. Thanks Christine! Super super glad things are good with the pup!!! Was he ever named???
5/19/2010 3:54:02 PM - 002005594716
It all turned out ok Cara. Could have easily been a bad deal though. He came back from FL. He was gone only 48 hours and when he seen us he was just all over Bobs face. (I was driving) He just wouldn't stop licking kissing Bobs face, the two of them had quite an hour. I'm not sure we will part with him now. He's been through enough. Perhaps if some lives close enough that he don't have to 'travel' but very doubtful. Thanks for your concern. I will have to say this, it was a tough decision for him to make... but!
5/18/2010 5:19:44 PM - 002020566053
I just can NOT believe it Christine and Bob!! I am sooo sorry to hear what that poor baby had to go through with the flight there and back again. Who does that??? As far as I'm concerned, the guy should have ditched the girlfriend and kept the pup!! Waaaay more loyal!!! Who is terrified of a puppy?? How traumatic!! Where was the pup shipped to and back from Christine?? I sure hope you find someone close to home to adopt him?? her?? Please give him/her TONS OF LOVIN from us here in Canada!!! Good luck Christine and Bob!!

I was wondering if you might be interested in having one of your males sire a litter by a Catahoula/GSD mix with heterochromia and a short water-fast coat, even temperament and high intelligence? I am looking only to have 2 males and a female of the litter... to take over some land that's in process of being turned over in a bequest, and would be interested in your terms.

It was obvious to me through your emails, but more so after meeting the two of you that you truly are just that! Thank you too for your kind words and for purchasing one of our pups. I know in my heart he will have a great home for the rest of his life! Good luck, and keep doing just as you are doing now. PLEASE keep in touch and keep some pictures coming our way! God bless you all!

Hey Christine and Bob! We got back home yesterday (Tuesday night). So GREAT to have met you, Bob, the Pups, Pawnee, Willow, Cisco, The Kid, the Racoons, the Parrot, the Lynx, the Tortoise, the Wallaby's?? Your two 6 month old pups, their parents, and oh my gosh, I'm sorry if I've forgotten anyone else! And I know I have! lol! It was such a pleasure meeting you folks and all of them! You two lead such a busy, yet enriching life! You are such lucky people! And your animals are so lucky to have you both as well! We were so pleasantly surprised at how well organized your grounds were and how clean your home was even with all your wonderful little (and some large - lol) room mates! Ludwig and I felt lucky to have found good people like yourselves to buy our new four legged family member from!
Legend is doing very well! He's really taken to his HUGE crate! We know he'll grow into it within the next few months! lol! He really likes it in there - he always goes into it to lay down and nap. He's got lots of toys to help deter him from chewing everything in the house! lol!
We took Icey and Legend for a walk in the Watershed today Christine. He really enjoyed it! So many different sights, sounds, and smells! He was absolutely pooped half way through! lol! Ludwig didn't mind carrying him the rest of the way - more cuddle time! Plus a Hawk happened to be circling above, perhaps thinking of making him an afternoon snack! Legend dipped into the creek as well while we were there and Ludwig and I were absolutely surprised that even at 5 weeks, he was right at home! It was clear that he loved it! Even so, we were still 100% cautious the whole way!
He has his first collar now (which we bought when we stayed our night in Cannon Beach) and today at home - we purchased his cute little ID tag. We're having fun keeping up with the bottle feeding - He even had about 10 little puppy kibble! The little guy has quite an appetite! lol
Well Christine and Bob ... Ludwig and I would like to thank you once again for having us in your home, showing us around, and introducing us to all your wonderful 'family members'!!
We will keep in touch!
3/29/2010 2:31:10 AM - 002005594716
Cara and her boyfriend came today from B.C. and picked up their darling little puppy. It was our pleasure in meeting them and showing them around. Another good home for another one of our puppys. Good luck Cara and Ludwig, was great meeting you finally. I have no worries for this puppy.

3/22/2010 7:14:49 PM - 003024440017
We would like to contact you about your puppies. Do you have any contact information available? Our puppy just passed away from cancer and we really would enjoy having a puppy learn the where-abouts with our 13 year old wolf dog, Goliath. We would really appriciate it if you contacted us or gave us more information. My email is Earl_rocks94@yahoo.com
Thank you
3/22/2010 6:11:42 AM - 003024331798

3/22/2010 3:23:01 AM - 002005594716
I have 5 puppies left now. I took a bunch of pictures of the ones I have left. I will be posting some of those tonight and tomorrow. They are both male and females. My second choice of pick of litter is still available. He is a big dark boy. Great personality. They is also a special girl who is very light tan color. She's been getting lots of attention. I also have a boy and a girl who are dark brown with a white chest, and the other one has four little white paws and a white chest. They are ready for shipping and eating solid TASTE OF THE WILD dry kibbles with two a.m. and p.m. bottles of milk. They could be weaned of the milk in a week, but I recommend it for as long as they take it for bonding purposes.
3/22/2010 3:18:22 AM - 002005594716
Well Cara picked up her two pups yesterday, or was that officially today? lol Hope you made it home safe and pups are well and that you are pleased with them. It was nice meeting you and seeing all the pictures of your special cats. Thank you.
3/21/2010 2:16:42 AM - 002020566053
Hi Christine, still hoping you'll post a picture or two of our male. You mentioned you'd do it a couple days back, so we're just waiting. We know you're busy with all your animals, but would LOVE to just get even one photo if you have a moment! Thanks so much Christine! Sorry for being a bug! lol! Just a little anxious. Hope your weekend is going well!
3/18/2010 4:18:22 PM - 002020566053
Hey Christine! I read that pups are fed cottage cheese, and other dairy, does that not bother their stomachs? I was happy to read that what you consider to be good kibble, ie, timberwolf, evo, nutro, etc, we already are feeding our Siberian Husky! When we pick up our pup from you around the 28th, he'll be 5 weeks(ish). You mention, on your website here, that from 5 weeks of age, we can start to mix quality kibble and the raw food together. That's all great information! Thanks! We'll get more information from you regarding the diet when we pick him up! Curious about the cottage cheese and other dairy. Please let me know, thanks!
3/18/2010 3:05:36 PM - 002020566053
My gosh Christine, I see that Marco is buying what sounds like the rest of the puppies from the litter. Just curious if he mentioned what he plans on doing with them. Not being nosy, just curious and concerned. Hope he's not breeding just for the money. That would be sad!

We had 10 puppies born on Jan 20, 2010. We were surprised they were born so early and more surprised when we did a head count! 10 puppies!!! That is a record breaker for us, and worries us a little as it's hard enough to find the perfect home for these guys when we have just 5 or so pups. But 10 is going to be difficult. We are asking $1500 for boys and $1800 for girls. Remember please you get what you pay for here. Only a few others have the quality of wolf/dog that we have. They are bred for their intellegence, looks and loyalty. I can give you names of others who have bought from us and you can talk to them personally. I tell most people that a wolf of this percentage is next to impossible to housebreak, but out of our last litter, two wolf/hybrids have done just that. It takes a LOT of patience and work, but it can be done with these pups. So, if you are interested in some of the best looking HIGH CONTENT wolfdog pups, send me an email. Now accepting deposits. Will be ready for new homes in a couple of weeks. Will be started on the bottle good. Get them early so they will bond to YOU! Not me, or momma. We start bottle feeding at 8-9 days old and can go to new homes at 3 weeks old IF you have the time to bottle feed. Or, we can wean them for you here.
1/9/2010 5:56:41 PM - 002005594716
We are asking $100 NON-refundable deposits to hold a pup.
1/8/2010 8:27:52 PM - 003013456018
HOW MUCH ARE YOU ASKING FOR YOUR DEPOISTS FOR 2010 LITTER?
1/3/2010 5:32:24 PM - 002005594716
We will now be accepting deposits for our 2010 litter.

So sorry it's been so long since I've wrote here, but until now, there was something wrong and I couldn't update it at all.
7/9/2009 6:41:24 PM - 002077573349
hi, i was wondering if you could answer this question for me.....are your wolves 100% wolf ? and ppl have been telling me that if the goverment catches you with a wolf/wolf hybrid they will take the dog and put him down because he is a wild creature that can attack and things like that have happened !
i was also wondering if this is how you guys re-populate the wolves cuz i know wild wolves are becoming extinct.
3/29/2009 5:41:37 PM - 002058891955
We were thoroughly impressed by Willow and Pawnee, what wonderful animals. I would have never expected them to be as friendly as they were, what a combination of good genes and great upbringing. After looking all over the country we decided on coming to Christine and Bob for our new family member, and we couldn't be happier. She is adjusting to her new home perfectly and is growing by the minute....thanks guys!!!

Hello Christine,
I would like to congratulate you on your efforts to help the wolves.
My family had a Wolf part German Shepherd dog at one stage when I was in my teens.
They are wonderful animals and deserve to be respected.
Your passion to help these beautiful animals is recommendable.
Keep up your good work.
