PTL

PTL stands for Parent-Teacher League.  This means that EVERY Parent of a student here at Peace Lutheran is a Member!   

Please consider participating in at least one PTL sponsored event throughout the year.  Even if you cannot attend a specific event, there are many volunteers needed to prepare for the event.

If you would like to sign up for a specific event or get on a general volunteer list for event coordinators to call on as needed, please contact us.  New ideas and energy are always welcome!

Information

2011 - 2012 CALENDAR OF PTL EVENTS

Purpose

• plan and carry out a variety of family-focused activities throughout the school year
• hold fundraisers to support such activities and to provide funding for technology and special projects/purchases as requested by the teachers

Meetings

• are open to all parents
• take place the 2nd Monday of each month (except December)
• begin at 6:30 p.m.
• take place in the teachers' workroom (may be moved to larger room if needed)

Programs/ Events

• Donuts with Dads/Muffins with Moms – Events which are held in the morning, before school, where juice and snacks are provided. Helpers needed to set out the snacks.
• Apple Pie Fundraiser – PTL assembles and sells pies that can be frozen or baked fresh. Orders taken in advance. Held in November. Committee members needed to prepare the pies.
• Children’s Christmas Bazaar – PTL holds a sale for the children to allow them to purchase gifts for family members/ parents at discounted prices. Many committee members needed for purchasing items, packaging, selling, wrapping.
• Mother/ Son Extravaganza – Mothers (or other female figures) and sons gather for a variety of fun events. Themes vary from year to year. Held on a Friday evening in March. Committee members needed.
• Daddy/ Daughter Dance – Daddies (or other male figures) take their favorite girls to a pseudo- “prom” held in the church gymnasium. There is dancing, snacks, and pictures. Held in January or February each year. Committee members needed.
• Family Fun Night – A plethora of events provides fun for the whole family. Held in May at school gymnasium. Committee members needed.
• Easter Egg Hunt – Held on a Saturday morning a week or 2 prior to Easter. Committee members needed.
• Basket Fundraiser – Each class selects a theme and solicits donations from the students/ families to fill a basket of items around the theme. Baskets are then wrapped and a silent auction is held. Committee members needed to record basket contents, wrap them, and on the day of the Children's Christmas Service.
• PTL Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – Lunch provided for teachers and staff on the last day before Christmas Vacation. Committee members needed.
• Christmas Tree Decorating – In mid November the trees in the cafeteria and foyer need to be decorated and then put away following Christmas. Committee members needed.
