I'm kind of getting bogged down by the rain. I honestly don't mind rainshowers, its the thunderstorms that I don't like and we've had our fair share lately. I had the joy of being at work on Friday night when all the bad weather came through town, and I'm convinced that Wal-Mart is not the place I want to be during a torndao. I've always been of the opinion that I would be safer in the bathroom or under the counter in the pharmacy, but I guess the higher ups don't see it that way. If there is a warning issued and they call a Code Black in the store, we're required to immediately close the pharmacy and hightail it to the center of the store...which only has a tin roof, see why I think the pharmacy is the safer place to be?
Friday night, we had a Code Black and we closed the pharmacy for about 15 minutes until they cancelled it, but we had some customers who weren't too happy about it. What I don't understand is why people would get in their cars when there is a tornado warning, just wait it out! I'm terrified of tornadoes and bad weather because I was in this tornado when I was a child. Anyway, we survived Friday's bad weather and Monday's CRAZY wind, but Phillip has a LOT of limbs to pick up in the backyard, it's a mess!
The Easter musical was awesome, all of our hardwork paid off and some of my techs and their families came on Sunday night. It took me a little by surprise because I always take a flier in and invite everyone, but no one ever takes me up on it! It was great to have them there on Sunday night. Easter was a great day...mom and dad came into town for the musical Sunday night and ran errands with us on Monday.
We've been getting the house in order and first on the list is a new garage doors, for the one I decided to take out with my car (oops...). We also got a new faucet to help with pressure issue we've had ever since we moved in and um to keep us from getting sprayed when we turn the water on and the sprayer is stuck...not cool! We're also in the market for a digital piano or keyboard, I miss being able to sit down at the piano and play since we don't have one and the keyboard I have doesn't have the full 88 keys...if anyone has any comments or suggestions on what we might want to look at, we'll take them, we don't really know what to look for.
Looks like another couple of busy weeks for us. I'll be in Chattanooga this weekend for 15 hours of CE and we'll be heading to Franklin the next weekend, and vacation at the beach the 2 weekends after that...lots to look forward too!
The best news of the day...Leslie Ann and Dennis are having a little girl!!! Mom is so excited to have a grandbaby and a little girl at that!
We're still keeping busy around here and trying to keep afloat with all the rain that we've been getting. Never mind that it's rained like 15 days out of the last 20, we're still in a drought! It doesn't stop raining long enough to mow the grass, so we have a field of dandelions in the front yard! The rain even kept us from our weekend at Reynolds Plantation with Phillip's parents. Phillip and his dad planned to play golf all weekend and since it doesn't mix very well with rain, we had to reschedule. But I'm glad we stayed home because baby Luke FINALLY made his appearance and Phillip and I were here to meet him!

We can't wait to watch him grow up! Somehow the focus on who is having the next baby has shifted to Phillip and I. I can't tell you how many people have asked me in the last week when we will be planning for a baby. Right now we have 2 houses and until we can at least get the townhouse rented (sidenote...if you know someone who needs a place to live, we have a 2 bedroom townhouse for rent!) we won't be adding to our family. There are also some other changes that we may be making in our lives that may put that off for just a little while, and we haven't even been married for 2 years yet. Plus my sister is having a baby in September and two at one time may just be too much excitement for my mom! We'll get there eventually, I promise!
I can't wait to find out if Dennis and Leslie Ann are having a boy or a girl...I've found all sorts of craft projects, but I can't start on them until we find out, just 12 more days and we'll know! I guess it's time for me to get off the computer and start cleaning the house. I love my long weekends, because it gives me a chance to recover from the work week, do a little house work, and actually plan a meal and cook instead of quickly cooking something. I'm really glad that we're starting to have warmer weather. Warm weather means fresh vegetables! Last night we had dinner with Brad and Kelly at their house and had grilled zuchini for the first time since last summer! Can't wait for more tonight! I was scanning through cookbooks for a recipe for desert and found a couple of things, but then I saw these cookies on Maryanna's cooking blog. I figured I could make some and take the rest to the guys that Phillip works with when I meet him tomorrow afternoon for our trip to Sam's.
We love to hear from you, so let us know what you have going on in your lives!
I started this website with the intention of actually sitting down and updating it frequently, obviously that hasn't happened, just seems that life is going by so fast we don't have time to slow down and take a breath! We have only had a few weekends since the fall when we didn't have any plans whatsoever. This past weekend was one of those weekends, and I took the opportunity to clean the house, I mean REALLY clean it...it needed it...BADLY! My last task was to clean out my side of the closet because it was starting to get a little out of control; I even had Phillip clean out his side. The result is a mound of clothes for Goodwill in one of the guest rooms. For the next month, we have plans EVERY single weekend! It's just crazy.
We started the year off pretty smoothly, Phillip and I still work all the time, nothing has changed there. In January, we made a quick trip to Franklin to celebrate mom's birthday and Leslie Ann broke the news that Phillip and I will have a niece or nephew mid-September. Then, Mom came down for a couple of days for a baby shower for a close friend. (Baby Luke should be here any day now!) February flew by (it's a short month anyway!). We went to see Cirque du Soleil while it was here in Atlanta, it was awesome and no 2 CDS shows are the same...it was amazing and some parts kept you on the edge of your seat or simply hiding you face for fear that someone was going to hurt themselves...badly. The other weekends were full of work and more baby showers. The first two months of the year found me finally getting my sewing area set up and going so that I could make some baby gifts. I'm slowly learning how to use my embroidery machine. I'll post the pictures of the gifts I made so that you can see them.
So far, March has been pretty action packed. I started off the month with a bang, literally. I managed to try and back out of the garage before the garage door completely opened...Phillip was asleep and the resulting crash was so loud he came running...only to find a mangled garage door and one very upset wife! Soon we will be the proud new owners of carriage style garage doors... Luckily the only damage to my car was to the spoiler at the top...hopefully its an easy fix. We also made a trip to Tifton to spend a weekend with Phillip's parents. It was certainly educational. Phillip and his Dad took his mom and to the golf course and let us hit a little while they played...I need A LOT of practice. It's not as easy as it looks, I swung the club OVER the ball more times than I actually hit it! The talk is that Melissa and I may find ourselves the owners of clubs of our own so that we can play when we go on trips...we'll see if that actually happens. Last weekend we celebrated the wedding of two friends from church and enjoyed fellowshipping with friends after the wedding and in two weeks, we will be heading just East of Atlanta for a weekend at Reynolds Plantation with Phillip's parents...from what I saw online, it looks pretty ritzy and I'm looking forward to a weekend of relaxing!
Easter is almost here and with it comes musical rehearsals...all the time! Seems like we're spending a lot of time at church these days. If you're gonna be around Easter weekend, come check out the musical, we would love to see you! The weekend after Easter finds me in Chattanooga for a weekend of CE, 15 hours to be exact, not the most fun way to spend a weekend, but necessary to keep my license and be able to work...
The weekend that we're currently preparing for is the last weekend in April. Phillip and I are training to walk the Country Music 1/2 Marathon in Nashville...AND this past weekend we signed up to walk the Peachtree Road Race here in Atlanta with 46,000 other crazy people on July 4th. Are we gluttons for punishment? We haven't been able to find anyone willing to do the CMM with us, but have TONS of friends from church who signed up for the Peachtree with us. It's a kick start to getting ourselves in shape before we head to the beach for VACATION! That's right...vacation, Phillip, Mom, Dad, myself and hopefully LA will be heading to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a wedding at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and a week at the beach in Nags Head. It should be a fun, relaxing way to kick off the summer!
Well I guess the old adage is true...deaths come in threes. We got the phone call yesterday just after the choir finished singing that Phillip's granny passed away. We got home from church, packed, and headed to Tifton. It's the second quick trip for a funeral in as many months and this one isn't quite as quick because of the holiday. Mrs. Park had heart surgery a couple of weeks ago and went from the hospital into a nursing home for rehab. She crashed yesterday morning and never recovered. Phillip, Jason, and their dad played golf this morning for some guy time while Melissa and I went to the mall to pick up the last minute things that people would need for the funeral, belts, shoes, ties, etc.
Phillip and I made a trip to the car dealership this afternoon and test drove 2 different cars. We've toyed with the idea of trading Phillip's Escape in for a car that gets better gas mileage since he drives so far to work. So today we drove a Ford Fusion and a Lincoln Zephyr. We really liked the Zephyr, it was a very smooth ride. We'll see what happens...
Keep the Park Family in your prayers as they prepare to lay Mrs. Park to rest and as family members travel to South Georgia.
Well it's been a while since Phillip got a day off of work because of rain, but he got one today and I'm excited to spend the day with him. We plan on spending the day at home, cleaning up the house, and finishing up the office area. We may make a trip to Wal-Mart later with Ann and Susannah just to get out of the house for a little while, but other than that it's a lazy rainy day.
It's been a while since I've seen rain like this, no thunderstorms, just good heavy, soaking rains, actually to be honest I'm kind of tired of hearing the TV beep flash flood warnings at me. I know to say inside and not travel through standing water.
So what's new with Phillip and I? Well not much, we moved into our house at the end of May and we're finally starting to put the finishing touches on all the rooms. We bought the last furniture that we needed to buy and Dad, Phillip, and Johnny finished putting it together on Sunday afternoon. We now have a corner computer armoire, a very nice writing desk (a place for Phillip to sit and pay the bills...), and a big matching bookcase with a filing cabinet so I finally have a place for all those pharmacy textbooks I've kept for the last 3 years (I paid enough for them, thought I ought to keep them...). We have some molding to put up in the guest bathroom, and a stairway to paint. The room that we haven't really touched yet is the "playroom". Phillip has his drums set up, but the other corner of the room is going to be my sewing/craft area and we don't have the sewing table yet. We are trading our old computer desk for Kelly and Brad's current computer desk so that they can have a bigger desk and I can have a nice sized one for my sewing machine. Now that we have the new office furniture we can finally trade out and get things finished up.
Mom and Dad made the trip down to help us with a garage sale this past weekend. We actually did REALLY well and got rid of almost everything. Clothes were mostly left over and I didn't think those would sell anyway, so we boxed them up to take to Goodwill. We didn't sell the kitchen table and chairs or the stereo/display cabinet. I'm going to put them on Craig's List and hopefully they will sell soon, they're just taking up space in my garage...
Well I guess it's time for my usual Tuesday chores, laundry, and house cleaning...I have some help today so I'm excited!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails...And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. - excerpt from 1 Corinthians 13
Leslie Ann is my little sister! She and her husband Dennis will be adding to their family in September!
There are two very special little girls in this family. Their dad, Billy, is my cousin. They live right down the road from Mom and Dad!
This is the church that Phillip and I attend in Acworth, GA. Please join us sometime!
