Continental Mathematics League

In November students in Grades 4-6 participated in the first of five CML meets.  They are given 30 minutes to complete six math problems.  The CML meets provide our students an opportunity to use their problem-solving skills for a variety of problems while competing with other students nationally.   In January the 2nd and 3rd graders began a series of three meets.

PHS Metric Tour de France 10/10-10/14

We reached Stage 21 on Friday, October 14!  Our Metric Tour de France was a success.  Many thanks to our keynote speakers: Olympic track cycling champion Jamie Staff and one of the Project London 2012 riders, Daniel Walker.  Mr. Staff, director of USA Cycling's Track Sprint Program, gave us some insight about his cycling experiences and the Metric System and shared his gold medal.  Mr. Walker shared a track bike.  All awesome!

We're also grateful for our other guests for sharing about the Tour de France - Kelly Anthony, Michael Norris, and Alain Cailler.  We enjoyed having them!  All students know a little more about the Metric System, the Tour de France, and the French culture.  The fun continued in PE with Mrs. Nygaard and her Tour de PHS!
