Geometry City
In April the students will be working on building a 3D geometric city. It will probably take the whole month to complete. They will start with a 2D blueprint of their own city. Afterwards, both the 6th and 7th grade math classes will work together to plan and build a 3D city which we will display at the STEM fair at school. We will be using Sketchup to create our city/building blueprints. Sketchup is a free program through Google (no Google account needed). We have the program installed at school, however, if you wish to use it at home I have provided a link where you can download it.
Our next 2 chapters will be covering geometry topics which will correlate with our project. We will be spending half of classtime on curriculum and the other half on the project. In order to keep to our schedule, students might have to take their projects home for homework.
March Events
The month of March is going to be eventful. We will be competing in World Maths Day on Wednesday, March 7th. It will be exciting to compete against students in other countries. We will also be celebrating PI day on Wednesday, March 14th. Lots of wonderful math celebrations!
Scale Drawing/Model
Our Scale Projects have been lots of fun! The students have been working very hard to get their drawings or models complete. We are all excited to display our finished projects. I will be posting pictures for everyone to see.
