PHS PE and Sports - Mrs. Nygaard - phspe

The children have been training for the Paralympics which will take place before Spring Break. The events include: Wheel Chair Archery, Wheel Chair Basketball, Wheel Chair Fencing, Goal Ball, Partially blind Soccer, No Hands Table Tennis, Sit Down Volleyball and Wheel Chair Boccia.
The children are learning how difficult simple sports are with a physical disability. It's been a great unit and I can't wait until....The Games Begin! Go USA! My program will be highlighted on pelinks4u from May 1-31st. Check out this website in May.

4-6th graders will combine into 5 tribes for a fast, fun, & thrilling PE Survivor. The challenges will be awesome.

We joined Let's Move In School & Michelle Obama to break the Guinness Book of Records.

We participated with the world and joined in doing 1 minute of jumping jacks at the same time.

Yea! PHS broke 2 World Records this week.

We just finished our 1st week and 9 stages of our Tour de France trike race. The kids are rolling along and having a great time. We even had Jamie Staff the Gold Medalist from Beijing come to speak to the children!!!  France is leading with 17 class stage wins, then USA with 10 class stage wins, Germany in 3rd with 8 wins and Sweden with 5 wins. We will continue for another week or so until we complete the 21 stage race.

 

PHS with the world participated in a 1 minute jumping jacks at recess on Wed. to try and make the Guinness Book of Records...Find out if we did...keep posted!

Welcome Back to PE & Sports. This year is going to be so exciting with many athletic adventures you may want to buckle up for the ride of the year. Kicing off the year will be our "Back to School Football Friday on Sept. 9th at lunch. We will have stations set up from football skills to end zone celebration dance,to craziest fan contest and more....... Tour de France (PHS) will be next with Metric Week...I have our own race course set up. On Oct. 12th we will once again try to make the Guinness Book of records but in a different event.... Jump roping..more details to follow. This is just the beginning......."Hold On" we will be moving fast!
