Welcome!

Welcome to my website! Here you'll find the story of my new dog, Pippin, and his day-to-day antics. He really does brighten my life, or, make me merry. You can check out the many pictures I've taken of him and read the interesting stories behind them. Keep up with me and my dog by coming back soon!

Houston Area Dog Parks
While we haven't been to any dog parks away from our apartment yet, we will probably begin doing that soon. This website is so great to learn about the different dog parks in Houston.
The Houston Humane Society
This is the shelter where Pippin came from. They do a wonderful job for the animals in their new facility. These animals will not be put down as long as they're healthy.
Friends of BARC
These people support the City's shelter. They try to find homes for the dogs in most desperate need that will be put down in a matter of days.
Houston Bureau of Animal Regulation and Control (BARC)
This is the shelter of the City of Houston. This shelter is very full, mostly with Pit Bulls, Labs, and other strays brought in by Animal Control. There are many incentives to adopt here, but most animals at BARC never find a home.
Pippin's Amazon Wishlist

Pippin doesn't need anything right now. But, if you're ever looking for a way to show this boy some love, some things on this list are sure to work.

Note: There are a lot of balls on the list. He loves balls, but certainly doesn't need all of them.

Houston's PetTalk Magazine
This Houston Magazine is full of wonderful events and information. Copies are distributed at my apartment's clubhouse.
Petsmart
Our favorite pet shop! It's a little further away than Petco, but sometimes worth the drive.
Petco
I just love going to the Petco near the apartment to get new toys!

About Pippin

Pippin was adopted from the Houston Humane Society on 6/10/10.

He is between 3 and 4 years old.

He weighs approximately 48 lbs.

He is classified as an Australian Shepherd mix, but no one can really know for sure.

His favorite activities include napping, going for walks, people watching, and playing fetch.

He is friendly with every person he meets.

He is housebroken and lets me know when he needs to go outside.

His best friend was an 8 month old Sheltie named Sherry, who has since moved away. He now likes to play with Puch and a young Boxer named Frazier.

He is scared of sudden loud noises and will shake and cower in unusual situations.

He is uncertain about people sometimes and when you go to pet his head, sometimes he will shrink down, as if he expects you to hurt him. But he is easily reassured.

He has completed Basic Obedience, two Intermediate Obedience classes, and two Rally classes in preparation to compete in AKC Rally competitions soon.
