Welcome

Prairie Remnants
Piecing Together the Prairie

The goal of Prairie Remnants is to restore our vision of nature around us. Today nature seems to refer to something that is separate from humans. It isn’t. Finding nature is the first step to finding ourselves. Prairie Remnants represents a fractal: a small remnant of a once large prairie. Our small prairie will grow to be part of a future prairie linked together with other remnants, making it whole once again.
I hope to share with you a spiritual journey of life or Nature on “The Land”.

When the last days of December roll around, I create a photo book of my favorite photographs taken during the year. Through the books my family and friends experience my home as I see it.  I would like you to enjoy it too. To purchase individual photos from these books plus other photographs, please go to my Shutterfly Gallery. Additional photos  can be viewed at www.PrairieRemnants.com.

Paris in April

Bonjour! Mark and I spent two weeks in Paris during April.  We fell in love with the city.  I had a hard time whittling down the number of photos I wanted in this travel album so.....Paris comes to you in two volumes. (I maxed out the number of pages Shutterfly could handle in one book.)

My Garden at The Land - 2012

With Spring just around the corner it is time for me to be starting the tomato and peppers seeds for this year's garden.   In the meantime I will share with you photos from last year's new garden.  It was a lot of hard work but also a lot of fun which yielded many good eats. One of my fondest memories is of friends standing in the garden talking while eating snap peas straight off the vine.  I can't wait to be in the garden again this year!

2012 The Land Photo Book

It is the last day of the year and I just wrapped up my 2012 photo book.  (A calendar was printed earlier in the month.)   Enjoy.  And.....Have a Happy New Year!

1st Platoon B Co 2/5 Cav -- Vietnam 1968

This new book is a collection of photos taken during Mark's Vietnam tour in 1968.  It also contains a few photos of Army buddies when they met up some 40 years later.

2011 Photo Book is now available

Just when I think I've photographed about everything on The Land, here comes a bobcat!  What a treat to see this beautiful animal.  I haven't seen the bobcat in several months, but tracks in the snow tell me it is still here and roaming the hilltop. Other fun photo series came about when a nest of baby rabbits was discovered in my sand prairie, and the house wrens built a nest outside Mark's office.  I hope you enjoy the new book.

2012 Calendars

I just created two calendars for 2012 highlighting a few of my favorite photos from The Land.  If you would be interested in purchasing a calendar, please let me know.  Happy Holidays!

Thanks for stopping by on the Fall Art Tour
