[title]COMMODITIES; Coffee Futures Gain; Pork Belly Contracts Up[/title]
Grain futures prices closed slightly higher on the Chicago Board of Trade while soybean futures were slightly lower. Weather was the key influence on the day's trading, analysts said. Widespread rain in the Grain Belt has been beneficial to corn and soybeans already planted, but has caused problems for farmers who have yet to plant their crops. Mr. [Mike Hinebaugh] said another week of rain and resulting delays in planting would tend to raise futures prices. At the close, wheat was 1 cent to 3 3/4 cents higher with the contract for delivery in July at $3.59 a bushel; corn was 1/2 cent to 1 3/4 cents higher with the July contract at $2.76 1/2 a bushel; oats were 3/4 cent to 1 3/4 cents higher with the July contract at $1.85 3/4 a bushel, and soybeans were 1 cent to 2 1/4 cents lower with the July contract at $6.54 1/2 a bushel.
