Shoes: Students are required to wear rubber soled shoes with sufficient support for their feet and ankles. Crocks, sandals, and dress shoes are not appropriate for PE class. If student do not wear the correct shoes, they will be allowed to walk the track and stretch with their squad but will miss the rest of the activities for the day.
Dr. Notes: Please send a note if your child is not able to participate in PE. We will accept a note from the doctor or from the parent. Please specify how long the student should be allowed to miss PE and/or which activities that he/she will not be able to participate in.
Welcome to the physical education web site for Puckett's Mill Elementary School. Mr. Capes and Mr. Eye are excited about the new year here at Pucketts Mill Elementary! All students will be constantly engaged in fitness oriented activities. All activities will help students to be active for their entire lives. Students will also be given class responsibilities and will be taught to develop practical applications of the skills and knowledge to real life settings.
Each class begins with a warm-up activity. Students will jog or walk laps around the track in the gym. During the warm-up, students will pause and perform various exercises during the laps to help gain muscular strength and stamina. Jogging during the warm-up time will ensure that students develop a high level of cardiovascular fitness as well as mastering the AKS (Academic Knowledge Skills) that we are required to teach in Gwinnett County Schools. After warming up, students move into their stretch squads to loosen up their muscles. Each squad will receive a folder with a meaningful stretch routine. Students will stretch together thereby building teamwork.
Students will be given brief but thorough instructions on the skills and activities for the day. The majority of class time is used to practice skills while participating in exciting fun games. Students are active for the majority of every class period.
This will be a very exciting and eventful year of learning at Puckett's Mill. Thank you for all of your support to the PE program. Your support makes it possible for your children to have the best quality PE experience yet.
