In the spring of 2008 the PTO thought it would be wonderful if there was a way we could have just one big fundraiser for the entire year and the Race for Education is the perfect solution. The PTO's main goal is to be able to eliminate all fundraisers except for the Race to fully fund everything our wonderful school needs but we are still a few years off. This fundraiser is entirely based on parent participation. The more parents that participate the more money our school receives.
How this fundraiser works is each participant raises funds by asking potential sponsors to contribute a tax deductible amount based on a flat donation. Students will then walk or jog around a 1/4 mile area track as many times as they are able in one hour's time. Students and classes will also have an opportunity to compete for a number of prizes and awards based on their participation in the Race for Education.
Some items the PTO has or will have purchased from this fundraiser is extra playground equipment such as soccer goals, fun hoops, tether balls, benches, technological equipment such as documenting cameras & portable presenters, and also books and materials for our leveled library.
