MATH
David, Robert, Zoe, Tommy and James are in Middle School Course 2. Magnus, Cameron, Katie, Winfield, Katya, Sophia, Alex O., and Jake are in Middle School Course 1. Everyone is starting to get more adjusted to the Saxon curriculum and are learning the skills needed for Middle School Math. Robert is the class champion of our math facts game. David is his closest competitor.

LANGUAGE ARTS
We finished our Sign of the Beaver novel and we are starting Island of the Blue Dolphin. We also completed the Wordly Wise Book 3000 Book 4. We will concentrating now more on English grammar. Vocabulary will also be studied, but not as many words each week. A Poetry Unit was started last week and they will be writing numerous poems of all types: haiku, tanka, diamond, column, concrete, alphabet, limericks, narrative, and lyric.

We are currently working on Power Point Presentations on Space. Some are doing planets, others are doing research on unique aspects of space. Amazing choice of subject matter. They have been working hard on these.

READ ALOUD
I am currently reading Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne. We are almost finished - play practice has cut into our oral reading time. Next book is Gone Away Lake by Elizabeth Enright.

Winners of PSIA are as follows: Robert won fifth in Math, Edward was tenth in On-site drawing, Jamie won second in Maps, Graphs, and Charts, and fifth in Number Sense, Zoe won second in Poetry Interpretation, Tommy won sixth in Impromptu Speaking, and Cameron won a sixth in Poetry Interpretation. Nico participated in Math and Poetry Interpretation and James particpated in Math. I am so proud of all of you and how well you did.

Our own Tommy has been cast as Captain Hook. I am so proud of him. Zoe, Cameron, and Jamie also have speaking parts. Performance will be at the Branch School on April 10.
