NFPA 1500 bill introduced
Rep. Guthrie has introduced the NFPA 1500 bill H7223(see below). The RI Southern Firemen's League voted to support the bill as did the RIAFC Executive Board. The exemption for volunteer fire departments has remained in tact and untouched. The volunteer departments are being asked to work closely with the Plan Review Committee. That committee will now include a volunteer chief. Additionally, the legislation adopts the 1987 edition as the minimum standard and transfers the responsibility of enforcement to the Fire Marshals Office.
