Joined the members in Warrenton on Saturday, March 20, 2010 for the annual gala. What fun!!! Took the the Nikon speed lights and 32" difusion umbrellas and set for protraits and candid shots. The D700 worked great as a command and control unit for the wireless speed lights and I was able to achieve pretty good control/consistency of light during the shooting. Next time I'll take the back drop too as this was the biggest challenge with the location. Wasn't as pleased with the set. Over all, very pleased with the quality of the work. The evening was very enjoyable and the FH members fun to work with.
The morning fog was thick for the 80th annual blessing of the "hounds and land" event at Black Oak Estate. This was my first attempt at shooting in these conditions and I set the camera (Nikon D-70) up initially in shutter priority mode allowing the camera to automatically adjust the apeture setting to sycronize with my shutter speed settings.
The results of this low light, heavy atmosphere session was quite successful. Since I always shoot in Raw (digital negative) I spent about three and one-half hours in post production. I can only say, I love the digital dark room and with each instance learn more about the capability and flexilbility digital "raw" offers.
Chased hunters, horses and hounds as they pursued the elusive fox across the northern Virgina country side for 3.5 hours on Saturday the 7th. Shot over 200 pics using a Nikon D70 digital SLR with a 70-300mm zoom lens. Set the camera up ISO 250 shooting at F9-11 at 1/250 second.
