Rockaway Borough Education (RBEF)
95 East Main Street
Rockaway, NJ 07866
The Rockaway Borough Education Foundation (RBEF) was established in 2010 when several concerned parents wanted to do something about school programs that were dissolved because of the NJ budget cuts. RBEF has a 501(3)c status, which is a not-for-profit corporation intent on providing educational enrichment opportunities that the current school budget cannot support.
The Rockaway Borough Education Foundation was established to:
- Recognize and promote educational excellence in our schools
- Generate private funding and community support in order to supplement and enhance the educational experience for all children in RB public school district
- Work directly with our school district, including administration, educators, students, families and local community groups
- Operate on a model common to other districts who have succeeded with Local Education Funds/Foundations
During the first year our main focus was instituting an on-site before and after care program. We are very pleased to state that BORO KIDS offers before, after and during-the-school- day care for all students in our district. It is also a viable source of revenue for the RBEF. BORO KIDS is staffed by a licensed teacher who follows the core curriculum for the state of NJ. For more info please go to: http://www.borokids.org/BoroKids.html
The RBEF Executive Board has developed a calendar of fundraising events which currently consists of: January- Kid Safe Karate workshop at Lincoln School, February: Ice-Skating March: Casino Night. There will be a host of new programs for kids, adults, and friends in our community.
The Board of Directors currently consists of: America O’Toole: otoolet@optonline.net, Anthony Ciallella: ajciallella@yahoo.com, and Colleen Grow: hoogro3@yahoo.com. If you are interested in learning more about the foundation or how you can get involved, please contact any of us. We would be glad to listen to your ideas and get your input! Together, we can all make a difference for our children.

The Rockaway Borough Education Foundation Grant Request Policy |
|
The purpose of the Rockaway Borough Education Foundation is to provide funds, in the form of grants, to enhance the education experiences of children in the district. Grant Process The RBEF works closely with the Rockaway Borough School District in a unique partnership, identifying needs and opportunities where its efforts can make a difference to teachers and children. It seeks out and supports innovation and leadership among teachers, parents and administrators alike. With public education under continuing budget constraints, the need for public/private collaboration as represented by the RBEF is greater than ever. The RBEF Grant process involves articulating goals and outcomes for an idea, itemizing costs associated with it, and evaluating its implementation. There are two grant cycles during the school year and they are October and May. After completing the grant application, the requestor obtains administrative approval and forwards their request to the RBEF Grants Review Committee. All staff is notified of funding via email. · Determine how much funding you need within reason. · Expect the approval process to take up to 4 weeks before receiving the funds. Provide as much information as you can in regard to the purpose of the project (who this will help, and anticipated costs…etc.). · How the foundation's funds will be used. · After the project has been completed, a Grant Evaluation Form must be completed. This is an opportunity for you, the grant recipient, to report on your use of the funds, effect of your program, and help us see the impact of our investment to the Rockaway Borough School District. |
