RACE DAY

START TIME

This is a timed event. Gun time starts at 9 am for all levels. Bib pick up will be open as early as 8 am. Make sure to give yourself enough time to work your way through the crowd, hand in your signed waivers, go to the bathrooms, and take pictures =) For our speeders who can finish the course in 20 mins or less, please position yourselves at the front at the start of the race; more than 45 mins should start from the back of the pack.

THE COURSE

The race starts and finishes in the Quarry Lakes Recreational Area. The course is mostly dirt fire trails with a very small portion of pavement at the beginning and end. There are no hills, so speeders and gunners are most welcome! Total elevation gain/loss approx 68 ft. Total distance 3.2 miles.

COURSE MARKING

Each course will be marked with ribbons, flags, and/or signs to help keep runners on the correct course. Volunteers will also be on the course at key locations to help direct runners.

RUNNER COURTESY

At the course, strollers stay on the right at all times unless you're passing someone. If your stroller speed is equal to everyone's average pace, best to stay in the middle to let the fast runners through your left, and the walkers on your right. Be aware of your surroundings. We request no headphones nor earphones on the course. AVOID blocking the course and walking/running side by side. If someone wants to pass you from behind, please make your way to the right and let your fellow runner pass. If you want to pass someone, please announce yourself and call out "runner on your left", and wait to pass. We love our parks, please keep them clean. Keep your wrappers and unwanted trash on you until a trash bin is available. We want to keep doing this race every year!

AID STATIONS

There will be no aid stations on the course. Runners should carry their own water bottle or hydration pack.

BATHROOMS

Bathrooms will be available at the race start/finish area.

Why another race?

In June 2012, Brian's mom wondered what became of Steven's friends. Brian and I thought what better way to gather them all together, and get his friends actively involved in fighting the very cancer that took him away, is by doing a 5k benefiting our favorite charity. To you who will be running, sponsoring, or volunteering the 5k in January, you will not only be celebrating his birthday with us, but you will be helping patients and their families who are currently fighting blood cancer. Whether you knew Steven or not, THANK YOU for deciding to be part of this cause. We'll see you in January!
