Hi Everyone,

I just uploaded the pictures that I down loaded from Ciferno.  For some reason I do not have or at lest I do not think I have all of the pictures that he had of us.  If anyone down loaded pictures from him other than what I had, please down load them into the Fort Ligonier Days album.

Thanks,

Troy

Boy Scout Eagle Project

Hi Everyone,

Mitchell's Eagle Scout project was approved last night.  He will be building a tomahawk range and an archery range at the Conococheague Institute.  He will be setting it up and finishing the targets the weekend of September 7 - 9 at the Institute.  If you plan on attending the Colonial Fair at the Institute that weekend, I would would like to ask for your help so that he can get this up and ready for use on that weekend.

Thanks

Troy

Invasion of the Valley of Virginia

The event didn't turn out like we thought, however, we had a blast.  We had six members of the ranger company there and three guests.  On Saturday we scouted the area for about four hours.  After lunch we had shooting competitions and tons of fun!  Saturday night found us sitting around a nice fire swapping ghost stories and tall tales.  Everyone that attended loved the location and are looking forward to next year.  If you couldn't make it out this year, try for next year.  With any luck, the new date will allow more people to attend.  All in all, we had a great time!

Up on the Web!

Hi everyone,

The website is now out to the world.  You can search for Rutherford Rangers and our site comes up!

New Website

Welcome to our new website.  I hope you enjoy it!

Defending the Virginia Frontier since 1758

Welcome to our site!  We are the recreated Rutherford Ranger Company (1758 - 1759) and Lt. Col. Adam Stephens Co. of the Virginia Regiment.

We are based in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.  The original Ranger Company was based in Winchester, Virginia at Fort Loudoun.  The Rangers were not allowed to wear the Virginia Regiment uniform by order of Lt. Gov. Robert Dinwiddie.  Rangers were to wear their own clothing and bring their own weapons.  If the Ranger did not have a weapon, one would be provided to him with the understanding that should he acquire a new one, the colonies weapon would be returned.  During the Forbes Campaign the Company was ordered to stay in the Winchester area, garrison Fort Loudoun and range the area.

Our goal is to accurately portray Captain Robert Rutherford's Ranging Company, which saw service in Frederick County Virginia, Berkeley, Morgan, and Hampshire Counties of West Virginia.  Along with portraying the life of soldiers on the frontier some of our members are working on portraying the lives of the Native allies.

We have attended French and Indian War and Pontiac's Rebellion events throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York.  We have taken part in various 250th Anniversary events over the last couple of years.

We are currently working on creating an impression of Lt.Col. Adam Stephens Company of the Virginia Regiment.  We also portray a company of the 60th Royal American's for Pontiac's Rebellion events.  The company also has the ability to switch over to a French Milice unit when needed.  By being able to alter our impressions, we are able to fill a need at various events.

Please feel free to browse our website and look at our pictures.  If you are interested in this time period and would like to recreate life on the Virginia Frontier, consider Rutherford Rangers.  We are always looking for new recruits.
