Over the past year, we have sat back in silence watching what we feel is a Campaign fueled by Animal Activist Organizations targeting a very popular breed "The Australian Labradoodle". Why not start at the top and let the breed crumble allowing it's own community to do most of the work for them.
We have tried to go the "Positive Route" by posting all of the wonderful stories of happy doodles and their satisfied owners. Beverley Manners has opened her doors for all to see but still the madness continues. We can no longer sit back and watch this wonderful breed and it's Creator being destroyed.
We had originally though of printing All of the allegations and responding to them one by one, to debunk those who have tossed out Rotten Fruit that range from the ridiculous to the blatantly mean-spirited. It seems however, that by doing so we allow ourselves to become engaged in an internet word war that only emboldens "the foe" encouraging them to stretch the truth even farther. In our research, we have discovered that many of the allegations are:
· Outright Lies or Twisted Facts Based on Hearsay
· Illogical Findings
· Assumptions Made Without Full Knowledge of the Specific Issue
We have been hard at work gathering information in order to answer allegations about Rutland Manor posted by others on different forums. We now have the information which can be supported and verified and will be posting only the facts in the hopes of putting the allegations to rest. POSSIBLE CAUSE OF DISINFORMATION -- Rutland Manor’s bookkeeper for four years, told Beverley Manners that her girlfriend had a beautiful female Labradoodle whom she loved, but due to a marriage split, was unable to keep her. She had bought her from a small breeder and all she knew was that her sire’s name was Duke and her dam’s name was Sassy.
The dog needed a home urgently or she was going to have to be turned over to a shelter. Beverley, not wanting this to happen, said that she would take her, and the dog was brought to RM. Beverley called her “Happy Wanderer OF Rutlands” (the OF designation is used when a dog has not been bred by RM) or "Wanda". She was health tested, Micro-chipped and DNA profiled. Wanda passed her health tests with flying colors, and was then bred to RM sires with established bloodlines. She produced outstanding Australian Labradoodles (including Candida Pryor’s ASD Labradoodle Cozmo in Hong Kong, well known and loved across the world).
On the RM website, Wanda’s description has always been that she had an “unimpressive” pedigree. It is important to note that, from Wanda’s litters, only desexed puppies were sold and there were NO puppies sold to Breeders. Again, it was always correctly presented on the RM website - Wanda had an unimpressive pedigree. She was bred by a small breeder who didn’t provide pedigrees for her dogs. This is not unusual; there are plenty of small breeders who do not give pedigrees with their Labradoodles and who do not de-sex them when sold.
All of the owners are happy with their Wanda pups. Below is but one testimony (more available on request). Wanda is now desexed and happily living in her forever home in the USA.
Rutland Manor Pty Ltd IS in liquidation. But Beverley would never file for personal bankruptcy, because that goes against her idea of integrity. She feels that it wouldn’t be the right thing to do, to get out of paying money legitimately owed to creditors. Even if she paid every creditor a dollar a week ‘forever’ she would always do her utmost to make sure every cent she owed was paid back to everyone.
We've put the facts into point form to make it quicker and easier to undertand. (We have changed the names of the Transport company as well as owners name for this article). We’ve also attached an email that verifies that John Mal (owner of Dogts Shipping Company) and Beverley Manners, had an agreement in place for making payments off the debt that was incurred due to his sloppy book keeping practices, and Rutland Manor Pty Ltd., having already paid off a Relatives long outstanding shipping bill of around $47,000.00.
1. Dogts was Rutland Manor Pty Ltd’s ONLY outstanding debt.
2. Dogts and Rutland Manor Pty Ltd had an Agreement in place which Rutland Manor Pty Ltd kept to the letter (see attached email and banking records of payments)
3. Dogts account was in dispute due to them back-charging 17 % interest on the total overdue amount without notifying us. This is not legal.
4. There was no inference given that the Agreement was in any way related to whether or not Rutland Manor Pty Ltd continued to use the shipping services of Dogts.
5. Due to the adult Australian Labradoodle Rutlands Redd Kisses being shipped by Dogts to Holland in a crate far too small resulting in her arriving dehydrated and ill, Rutland Manor Pty Ltd discontinued using Dogts for shipping of dogs or puppies. 6. When Dogts noticed Rutland Manor puppies being shipped by another carrier, Dogts called in the entire outstanding debt to be paid immediately. Dogts then refused Rutland Manor Pty Ltd’s offer of $40,000.00 to be paid immediately with the remainder to be paid off over a period of time. Instead, Dogts called for Rutland Manor Pty Ltd to be sent bankrupt.
The laid-back puppies are important to see just like the excitable ones
because I really need to know what sort of genetic differences exist even
at a very young age with these puppies, so believe me, the visit was
extremely helpful! Don't worry because I really enjoyed myself and had
fun playing with the puppies. They are so sweet :)
I'd definitely like to see them interacting with you and other humans in
the next couple of weeks though as well, and perhaps next time I'm there
I can give you more details about the specific experiments we are
planning. That way you can advise on what sort of behaviour we might
expect from your puppies at various ages.
It is shocking that a man of his reputation make such a public statement about someone before checking his files especially since it was almost 30 years ago. Too bad he wasn't decent enough to apologize as he should.
Michael Tucker (dog Trainer) claimed he had never heard of Beverley Manners or seen her in one of the class pictures from 30 years ago.
