Welcome to our website. We hope you enjoy the pictures and tid-bits about Tyler. Don't forget to check out the month by month pages at the top and make sure to visit our blog to see updated videos! (in the right column at the top)
Time is definitely flying! Our most recent adventure with Tyler has been a swim class at the YMCA. We have had 2 classes so far and tonight will be the third. (-: The first night of class we sang songs, practiced kicking and paddling, and tried to become comfortable in the water. It took Tyler a little while to warm up to the idea. During the second class we practiced getting in and out of the pool the right way, moving along the edge of the pool, and of course the same skills from the first night. Tyler did his first dunk under the water on the second class night. We have been practicing his new skills in the bathtub as well.
Besides swimming, Tyler has really enjoyed being outside lately. He loves going to the park. The slides and swings are his favorite! He also loves helping around the yard. He is good at putting weeds in the bucket and he is learning not to pull out the flowers. (-: Tyler is definitely a boy... he loves the dirt, bugs, and rocks!
Well, it's already been a month since Tyler turned 1. Let me take this time to catch you up on all he is doing now.
1st Birthday: It was a very fun party! We had family and friends celebrate this special day with us! The party was in the youth room at church cause it would have been too crowded in our little living room. We had a pizza dinner with fruit and veggies. Tyler did a great job opening all his presents and he stayed into it through all of them. His cake was an entertaining moment. He dug in at first, took a few bites, and then proceeded to push and fling every last bit of it on the floor or anything close by. It was a mess, but it was a great laugh!
New Movements: For the past month Tyler has been playing with taking a few steps at a time. Just in the last two week he started taking more than just a few steps and would walk across the living room or between two close objects. Within the last 3 days he has been taking more and more steps at a time. Today he walked more than he crawled and it is obvious he is feeling more and more comfortable with it!
Communication: He is definitely communicating more and more. He knows 3 words in sign language: more (which he does quite often), please (his most recent and he even combines more and please), and all done. He has also added a few words/sounds to his vocabulary. He is very good at saying wawa for water. And he is getting pretty good at drinking from a cup. He can tell you what a dog says and will sometimes repeat what a sheep or cat says. He is very good at shaking his head "no" and he will sometimes say "yes" with a head nod and a smile!
Food: He is now eating 3 good meals a day (all table foods). He is also drinking whole milk from a sippy cup with his main meals. He is eating off a plate and he loves to try to use a spoon. We are still working on that skill. He likes just about anything, but sometimes refuses to eat food we know he likes. He loves all fruit, pbj, tuna, egg salad, and other meat sandwiches, corn, beans, peas, beets, broccoli, noodles, toast, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, chedder cheese, and crackers just to name a few. He has enjoyed trying little bits of different desserts lately.
Wow, in just 5 days Tyler turns 1!!! It's kinda crazy to think that at this time last year I was so close to having him and little did we know it, but our life was about to change quite a bit. (-: It's pretty amazing to see how much has changed in just one year. We went from waking every few hours to sleeping nice and peacefully through the night (which lucky for us happened pretty quickly). Tyler went from having no teeth to having 8 (4 on top and 4 on the bottom). He went from feeding every 4 hours to eating three main meals a day. We no longer wait for him to do something, we wait for the next nap. (-: (Just kidding, I really to love playing with him!) Tyler crawls, sits, and stands with ease! He loves to walk along everything and even ventures to take a couple steps every now and then. His fine moter skills have changed so much! Instead of just knocking things down he now likes to build towers. He's interested in books and loves to dance to any kind of music. He has gone from crying to get what he wants to actually trying to communicate different things. He is definitely starting to say different things... his latest being "grampa." He loves to wave bye and he is great at giving kisses. He brushes his teeth before bed every night. Tyler is a cuddler when he wakes up from naps. He's a climber. He's gone from 9 pounds, 9 ounces to 30 pounds! I'm ready for him to slow down now! He wore newborn clothes for about a week and now wears 18-24 month old clothing. He loves balls, his teddy bear, his blanket, boxes, and sticks.
Wow... how far things have come and exciting to see what else will come our way this next year!
Tyler has been starting to say a few things lately. Of course it isn't really easy to understand, but I can tell what he wants. When I ask him if he wants his bottle in the morning he looks excited and says something like "baba." When he wants up, he stands at my legs and says "uh, uh." He is very good at saying "dada" when he sees Ryan and he says "mama", but not as often as "dada."
He is working on giving high 5's and he waves bye-bye pretty good now. He also likes to give kisses and sometimes even a hug.
For meals these days he is eating mostly table/finger food. Sometimes he still eats meats that are baby food, but his fruits and veggies are always feeds himself.
I posted several new videos tonight from Tyler's 8th and 9th months. They are on our blog. It is the link in the right hand column of this page (the small purple letters that say "peterson blog"). Enjoy!
Check back soon... I'm trying to add more pictures on his 9 month page, but for some reason it won't let me! Hopefully I can figure it out.
Well, it's been awhile since I last updated this and so much has changed! Tyler is now crawling with ease and loves to stand up and move along things. He has four teeth now (two top side ones and the two bottom middle). He enjoys feeding himself lots of different finger foods such as crackers, cheese, bananas, other fruits, and cherrios. Tyler's latest thing is opening cupboards and drawers. He's getting pretty good at it too! I'm not sure exactly how much he weighs now, but we have an appointment next Tuesday so I'll be sure to update you on his height and weight after that. (-: He is definitely a big boy!
I added some new pictures on an 8 month page at the top. Enjoy!
Tyler has his first tooth! Today he was sucking on my finger and I felt something very sharp on the top gums. Sure enough he has a little tooth poking through. (-:
He's also 7 months today!!! Happy Birthday Baby Boy!
Every Tuesday Tyler and I go to a baby support group at the hospital. We are in the group that is for babies ages 6 months to a year. There are two little girls in it (one walking and the other crawling very fast) that are both 11 months old. Tyler is about their size and had no trouble keeping up with them today. He was very interested in all the toys around the room and tried pulling himself up on the little girls several times. I'm seeing that I am going to have my hands full keeping him out of things and chasing him around. It was an active day at the group!
I posted Pumpkin Patch pics on a new page. (-: Check them out!
Tyler is enjoying getting into just about anything these days. Today I was loading some laundry into the washer. Tyler was sitting by my side and next to him was a nice pile of paper that needed to be put in the recycle. To him it looked like a lot of fun! He had a great time playing with it! See the pictures to the right. The nice thing was... it kept him occupied for quite awhile and I got some laundry done! (-:
***I posted two new videos on our blog today!
Tyler is moving so much now and very soon he's gonna be all over the place. He is pretty good at scooting backwards and he can go from his tummy up into a sitting position! He recently has been taking a couple crawls forward at a time. It won't be long before we are chasing him around and trying to keep him out of everything!
I put some new pictures on the bath page and I made a six month page to put some recent pictures.
Well, Tyer is 6 months now and is doing many new things since my last update! He rolls both ways and has learned to get around pretty quick just by rolling! His latest thing is getting up on hands and knees and rocking back and forth. He is going to be crawling before we know it! Every now and then he moves one knee forward as if he's starting to get it. (-: He smiles and giggles all the time! He is also eating many new things these days. So far there hasn't been anything he doesn't like. He eats rice cereal, oatmeal, peaches, pears, bananas, applesauce, peas, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, and probably more, but I can't think of any others at the moment. His is trying to drink out of a sippy cup, but hasn't quite got it down. (-: He enjoys visiting with his grandmas and grandpas, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also likes going for car rides, going grocery shopping, and taking bathes. He is still a great sleeper and an all around pretty happy kid!!! We love our little guy!
Oh... update on the weight and height. We had a doctors appointment today and Tyler weighed 25 lbs 8 oz and was 29 3/4 inches long. The doctor says he is a healthy boy and well proportioned!
I just added a video of Tyler rolling over for those of you who haven't been able to see his new talent yet. I also added a cute video of him in the tub. He loves his bathes!!!

Last night in bed Tyler decided it was time to roll over all by himself! Everytime I went in his room he was back on his tummy. Just to make sure it was real, I put him on the floor when he woke up in the morning and sure enough he did it again!
At his appointment on Tuesday, June 3rd, Tyler weighed in at 20lb 6oz and he is now 26in long! Wow... what a big boy! The doctor said he is well proportioned and a very healthy baby. (-:
We had a fun time at our class reunion. Tyler was by far the biggest baby! Everyone enjoyed his chubby cheeks!
