WEEK OF APRIL 26TH
We begin for the next season and have many things to look forward too. The girls from softball will be joining us hopefully soon, and we can get back on track. The girls need to be prepared to start strength training, jump training.
WEEK OF APRIL 4TH
Starting to take more shape as a team. The spring league is going well and the girls are starting to get back into the groove of things. I hope that all girls see that they can play year round, and make it a statement every year to want to progress even further in their capabilities. I am hoping that hard work and determination will prevail this year, and youth will not curve our appetite for a district championship.
WEEK OF MARCH 20TH
Ok open gym is updated, and ready to go. please bring your clothes to school and get ready to break it down to the fundementals. We need a lot of repetition, and energy to make this a memorable off season. this week we will be having our annual off season meeting to discuss future plans for team, fundraising, and for all other things that need to be covered. THIS IS MANDATORY. if you still want to play in the thursday league contact ann marie, or lizzet. I will try to make most of the open gyms and will be looking to set up one on one meetings for those that are interested in making varsity for next year.
WEEK OF FEBRUARY 8TH
Good luck to all member coming back out after they have had some time off. Open gym is a neccessity and will help with upcoming strength and condition workouts. This summer plan to work hard, play hard. we will have a volleyball team meeting before spring break so that will prepare us for the rest of the school year. A team of girls will be participating in the socorro spring league and will be playing thursday nights. next week will start to have open gym two days per week maybe even three after school. stay posted and become a member of the site.
WEEK OF JANUARY25TH
Ok Open gym is now open to any and all players. This is not mandatory, but it is strongly suggested. We will be graduating one of top players from years past and looking to rebuild with strength, and agility. I would personally like to invite any and all returning players to overlook past play, seasons, and abilities and look to push forward into a new era of volleyball for San Elizario.
WEEK OF DEC 7TH
Heading into the holidays is such an important time for the high school athelete. The smell of new christmas tree, and helping around the house brings families together for spirit and fun. I wish all of our girls the happiest and warmest wishes for the holidays and hope they come back ready to hit the off season. I have taken some time to think about the off season schedule and there are issues that need to be resolved before we just hop back onto the floor.
WEEK OF SEPT 15TH
District has started and i dont think the girls knew that. Riverside visited San Elizario on friday night to take all three matches. There were quite a few good things that came out of this nite but also some old problems rearing their ugly heads. Our defense is working really well, and our serves are very conservative. I would like to plea with all three teams to show up and defend their home court with a little more heart and determination, and show why we are going to go back to playoffs this year.
WEEK OF SEPT 7
Back from Phoenix (had a great tourny) and learned alot about the team, and some of us too much. On to bigger and better things for the season. District foes Riverside will be here on Friday and we need to pack the house with a roudy, but courteous fan base. The first home game and district game will set the stage for the coming season. The talent, and the heart is there we just need to put it together. Thank you to all for your help in preparing for the upcoming season, and the run at district champs. Thank you to Mary Marquez for once again showing what a little time can help accomplish.
WEEK OF AUG 24TH
Season has officially begun, and so has school. We were off to a rough start and things have calmed down since then. The season started with a bang, as CLINT, AND MONTWOOD gave us some old fashioned whoopings. We have since then started to come together and work hard on defensive principles to help us line up and work through tough spots in games. This weekend we will be welcoming 11 other schools to our gyms for two days of tournament play. Looking forward to seeing what we can do out of town, nothing to lose.
WEEK OF JULY 17TH
Back to school is luming and the rest of the tournaments have begun. Tough start for the J.V. and the Varsity. We will get back on track and look forward to begin the building of this program. All Middle school girls are welcome to come to the games, and participate by helping with the Varsity tourny the 28th and 29th. shoes are on order, and the teams are getting used to playing together.
WEEK OF AUG 3RD
Now thats what Im talking about. Most of the Season schedule is shaping up, and the tournament brackets are coming in every day. Scrimmages this friday and saturday should get us to see what we need to work on, and what we do well. Practice started today and we are off to a good start. Most of the returning players are in shape, just need some extra conditioning. shoes will be in this week and we will break them in for the start of our season. The lady eagles would like to welcome Coach Irene Flores a first year coach to help with our freshman team. More soon to follow.
WEEK OF JULY 27TH
Shoes have been ordered. If you worked the fireworks stand and you didnt put your shoe size in you need to contact coach, or come to open gym. All three coaches attended Clinics over the weekend and picked up some useful info. To all 7-12 graders you need to have your physical and all of your paperwork in by the time that Two a days start. Scrimmages will take us to Irvin to face El dorado on Friday the 7th, and we will be playing Loretto and Fabens at home in the morning. Would like to start getting some times together for the parent meeting.
WEEK OF JULY 20TH
Back into the gym, and in full swing. The fundraiser was great and look for pics on the next couple of pages. The summer is ending fast and yet here we are looking at another season. 2-4A has taken a huge step forward and looking forward to getting back into competition. All three teams will compete in tournys starting the second week of August. Thank you to all the parents and volunteers for adding success to the busines of volleyball.
WEEK OF MAY 27TH
Wow what a week of open gyms. The girls are just starting to get the new rotations, and the overall attendance has been awesome. We still need for our 8th graders to make an appearance. School is almost out and the start of league play in both sand and indoor will prove to be a great team builder for the season i suspect. As always waiting for summer to start and for the heat to cook outside so the girls want to be in the ac of the big gyms.
WEEK OF MAY 11TH
UIL cancelling all of the BI-District games has put us behind. We are still looking forward to getting the off-season started with the whole team. Packets have gone out and if you do not have one you will need one. there is tons of things to click on so feel free to browse, take, and share with all others. Girls you need to follow the schedule of the running, plyo, and leg workouts. If you do not you will be severly behind in the hunt for those elusive uniforms for next year.
WEEK OF APRIL 27TH
Now is when we see who will be preparing for the upcoming season. Coachs attended a great workshop over the weekend, and picked up a few drills along the way. Patty from Monahans was one of the presenters that shared great drills along with some inspiration for the upcoming year. Thank you to all of the girls that have been coming to open gym, and that played in the Rapidfire tournament this last weekend. More tournys, and leagues will be coming shortly so stay tuned.
WEEK OF APRIL13TH
The girls in other team sports are winding up and will be back to us soon. If you would like help on your workouts please get in contact with coach as soon as possible. There will be no open gym for the next two weeks. Uniforms are in and ready to go. Tryouts will be in August, Open gyms throughout the summer, and clinics will be offered. Make sure that you check all the pages, and all the forms so that we may jump start the season off right.
WEEK OF MARCH 23
We have kicked open gym into full gear. we would like to thank everyone for their participation, and remember that it is not mandatory.
