SEPTEMBER 26, 2011 MEETING
PROGRAM: SUMI-E ON FABRIC – PAINT YOUR OWN T-SHIRT! MARILYN OFFER will show a technique for painting on fabric. This is a “hands on” meeting where members will paint a sumi-e design on a t-shirt.
OCTOBER 31, 2011 MEETING
PROGRAM: GYOTAKU – PRESENTED BY HEATHER FORTNER. Guest artist, HEATHER FORTNER, will demonstrate the oriental art form of Gyotaku – fish (gyo) rubbings (taku) using actual fish to create an ink or pigment image with variations in color and shading. Members that painted shirts at the September meeting are encouraged to wear their "art work" or bring their T-shirt to hang on our "show and tell" clothes line. We will not have our regular 'show and tell' at this meeting.
NOVEMBER 14, 15, 16, 2011 WORKSHOP TAUGHT BY SHOZO SATO
SHOZO SATO, a renowned master of traditional Japanese ink painting, received the Order of Sacred treasure from the Emperor of Japan for his contributions in teaching Japanese traditions. He is the author of numerous books including, “Sumi-e, The Art of Japanese Ink Painting”. Details of subjects and registration will be in the Chapter Newsletter.
NOVEMBER 28, 2011 MEETING
PROGRAM: TARASHI KOMI. LINDA BEAUDOIN will demonstrate this Sumi-e technique using sized paper and “floating or pooling ink or pigment on water.

JANUARY 23 CHINESE NEW YEAR - THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON
JANUARY 23 and 24, 2012 WORKSHOP TAUGHT BY PROFESSOR I-HSIUNG JU
I-HSIUNG JU states, “... a Chinese artist is not only a painter, but also a poet and a philosopher.” In this workshop Professor Ju will teach the subjects of flowers and birds with backgrounds in his traditional, masterful style.

PROGRAM: ZEN WORD CALLIGRAPHY. KEIKO ROMERSTEIN will demonstrate this unique form of calligraphy.
FEBRUARY 27, 2012 MEETING AND MEMBERS ART SUPPLY SALE
PROGRAM: “DRAGONS - MY FAVORITE ANIMAL” BY FREDERICA MARSHALL. Frederica Marshall, brush painting artist, teacher, lecturer and author will entertain us with the legends, symbolism and tales of the wonderful dragon.
MARCH 5, 6, 7, 2012 WORKSHOP TAUGHT BY DANNY HAN-LIN CHEN.
DANNY HAN-LIN CHEN, member of the Federation of Canadian artists, will bring his strong love of nature to our workshop, teaching shorebirds such as sandpiper, curlew as well as birds of prey. He will also cover washes, backgrounds, and special effects. Visit www.chensgallery.com

PROGRAM: PO’MO JUDY McENANEY will demonstrate the art of Po’Mo or “splash painting” painting on Shikishi boards.
APRIL 2, 2012 SPRING LUNCHEON AND INSTALLIATION OF OFFICERS
The April Spring Lunch and Installation of the 2012-2013 officers will be Monday, April 2nd at 11:30 A.M. at the Super Buffet VI, 5471 Fruitville Road (Sarasota Crossing Plaza). The price for the buffet, beverage, tax and tip will be $10.00 per person. The money will be collected at the restaurant.
