Tip of the Month!

Do you know how to align yourself properly?

Great alignment is the key to consistently hitting the ball in the correct direction. I use and have my students use bright yellow alignment sticks during every practice session to create a fundamentally sound work station. The sticks provide a fantastic visual aid to my players alignment and allows them to focus on other parts of their swing without worrying if their lined up correctly. The left stick is lined up parralel to the intended line of flight to the target so that the feet, hips and shoulders are square to that line. The ball is teed up or hit from the turf between the sticks. The outer stick(or old shaft, one of your other clubs, an umbrella, etc...) is on the outside of the ball also parralel to the targetline. This really helps you periphial vision and creates great direction for you takeaway. We use these tools to have precise alignment during practice so when you get out on the course your body know exactly how it feels to set-up properly toward your intended targetline. The 1st thing Stuart Appleby did after shooting 59 was was go to the range align his sticks and started practicing with a purpose in case he had to go in a playoff.

Try this in the future and I bet you hit alot straighter!

Keep practicing with a purpose...
