This Morning

So this morning Sean crawled into bed after dad left for work so that i wouldn't be lonely!! what a thoughtful little boy!

Getting into the swing of fall...

So here it comes, fall! In many ways I really do love this season (although I am a beach lover). I love planning trips out east to pick pumpkins, watch Sean get his favorite...although every row has a new favorite! Then eating the fresh roasted corn grown here on the island.. The colors of the island are fantastic and it is so inspiring. This is when my interest in cooking kicks back into gear. I look forward to planning meals and trying new recipes. I get an extra kick out of organizing and planning for the holidays to come... YEAH for FALL!!!! Sean is at such a great age now because he can really get into it too... this weekend will be the start of Halloween decorating and that is something I LOVE!

So Far So Good..

Well things here are going very well.. we had our first official family fun night! I think this has a great chance of being a running tradition for our family. I wrote different things we can do together as a family on different cards and placed them into a jar..then Sean got to pick 2 things for us to do that night. This was on top of the pizza that we were going to make as well. Sean loved it and it was wonderful to focus on just us. I'll be adding more activities to the jar ASAP...:)

Where is time going?????

I wonder sometimes if moms that have more than one kid feel time slipping away at the same rapid rate that I do with my one... maybe I am just super sensitive but it stinks to think that this first day of K, or anything else Sean will do, will be the last first I get... I have a friend with 4 boys and there seems to be chaos all the time (happy chaos mind you). We have our share but as anyone with only one kid will tell you the chaos tends to be in much smaller waves (happily so). I always only wanted the one...but recently there has been this unexplained longing for the next. It is so weird b/c I was soo sure for so long...we'll see what life brings us....

I have to say that you have all been so welcoming...this site is so unlike others that I am a part of (FB for instance). Everyone that has stopped by has been so kind in their comments and that is really a wonderful thing. I am so happy that I started this site. I really started it to carry on a journal for my family and to act as a monthly 'newsletter' of sorts for family and friends but I have found that expanding that circle to this next work is also very enjoyable.... as i enter into the SMG journal (my little boys initials) I hope that you will enjoy what I have to say and that you also enjoy the pictures I post (they wont be nearly as good as the ones I have found on your sites but there is always room for improvement! :))

So plans are in motion....

So we have gotten plans in motion to get to Disney 2010! So much so that my little 5yr old is taking whatever coins we give him for HIS piggy bank and announcing that this isn't going into his bank account but to Disney instead! I love that... I hope that this little lesson, on saving and working towards a goal, is something that he will get over time. My friends and I are always talking about how much kids just get things these days...you know the old-back when i was a kid...LOL You know what i mean. I want to raise an appreciative kid, young man who understands the value of working for something... just random thoughts that came to me but important all the same I think.

September is almost here

Ok so soon I will be putting my little man on the bus for K...incredible. I really feel like I just finished feeding him a bottle and now I will be worrying about home work! If the first 5 years went this fast what will it feel like when he is learning to drive? when he goes out with his friends? UGH when he has his first date and we have to drive him????
All I want is to press in as much as possible into the time we have...

Out East- Amagansett

we just had a great time out east again this year. each year for three years we have been invited to our friends beach house! We love going there and spending time with our friends and their families. this year was extra special because we purchased a kayak and got time to play with that!!! I have been searching for local places to take it back out on the water. Sean had a great time himself (as usual) he has really come into his own and was fearless this year! swimming without fear (swimmies on) playing in the sand and even kayaking on his own!
Great summer memories !!!

Hi Gabby, I just saw that you were on my postcard and travels pages :) Thanks! I love postcards so much, I have many, many from travels but so many are from familt and friends :) Love opening the mail box to a postcard :)
I love Texas, but I do wish we could turn the thermostat down alittle :) Texas is beautiful in spring with all the wildflowers and blue bonnets. Gorgrous fields full of them. It's hot here well into December though, the fall isn't as spectacular. The hill country and Brenham area are the prettiest :) I have a big list of things to do in Texas so hopefully that page will take off soon.
