Why choose a Seaspray puppy?
We’d like to take a moment to tell you why your next family member should be a Seaspray Australian Labradoodle puppy.
First of all, this is all we do. We do not work outside the home. Providing you with the best puppy possible is our ‘job’ and we take it very seriously.
The great temperaments of our breeding dogs is just the beginning. The rest involves daily interaction and activities for the puppies. We provide them with problems to solve, new toys, and different areas of the house to explore. We add noise, music, car rides, children, visitors and most importantly structure to their daily life. We provide a lot of interaction. That is what makes our puppies superior!
Most of the time we only have one litter at a time – occasionally there may be an overlap of two litters. We do not want to spread ourselves too thin during the time that we need to be devoted to the litter at hand. Whether the litter is small or large, they get our undivided attention. All day long!
Our dogs are loved family members first. If our dogs are not in top physical condition, we do not breed. We retire our breeding females after four or five litters. When we retire one of our dogs they remain in our family as the cherished family member they are, or they continue to live in their guardian home where they were placed as a puppy. Their well being is most important to us. We would never over breed our dogs.
Health testing - we do it all. We test for Hip dysplasia, Elbows, and Patellas; Eyes - Cerf and pcrdPRA; Thyroid; Cardiac; and vWD. We don't breed any dogs that don't pass all their testing. Occasionally, a disease can be cleared if both parents have been tested and are clear.
Our breeding dogs are happy! Some of our dogs have received their Canine Good Citizen Award. Others compete in agility or obedience. They are ALL walked and exercised on a regular basis. You will find many breeders do not have the time to devote to the mental well being of their breeding dogs like we do. We feel happy dogs make happy puppies! We make sure our dogs live full and active lives.
When our puppies are five weeks of age, we start taking them outside on a regular basis to eliminate. That means every two hours. Every day. All day. It is labor intensive, but it sets the idea that elimination is meant to take place outside.
We begin early collar and leash training before our puppies go home.
We start having the puppies sleep in a kennel dorm style at about seven weeks of age. By the time your puppy goes home at 8 weeks of age, he has slept in his own private kennel for a few nights. This helps them with the transition to their permanent home.
We keep the mother with her puppies until the puppies are 8 weeks of age. We feel the mother has a lot to add regarding the upbringing of her puppies even after they are weaned. The mom teaches them acceptable canine behavior. We do not separate them.
All of our puppies receive age appropriate vaccinations and worming, are micro chipped, have a two year health guarantee, and are spayed or neutered. They are sent home with a gift package from us which includes a bag of the food they have been eating, a toy, a blanket with the scent of their Mom and litter mates on it, ear treatment, a special brush, a crate suitable for training for quite a while, training information and much, much more.
You’re coming to pick up your puppy to have him fly home with you? No problem! Rent one of our airline carriers for a nominal fee and we’ll get them used to the airline approved carrier before they go ‘home.’ It’s part of the service we provide.
Perhaps you’re interested in additional training? Puppy Head Start training is well worth the additional cost. We do an excellent job preparing our puppies for their future with their family. Please review some of our training videos to get an idea how advanced your puppy can be in three short weeks of training. At 11 weeks your puppy will still quickly bond to your family but will be extremely well socialized and well versed in good canine behavior…. And 99% housebroken!
Any of our puppies are welcome to return to Leslie’s house for additional training while you take family vacations. This arrangement is much more beneficial than a typical boarding facility, and usually costs less.
Leslie and Peggy are always available to assist you with any training problems, whether or not you elected to put your puppy thru Puppy Head Start.
Come visit us! We love to show off our Australian Labradoodles! The breed comes in three sizes and two coat types. We can show you all of them. Sometimes you don’t know exactly what you want until you see it! Joining us for Doodle Day is the only way to see the incredible temperaments of our dogs yourself. We host a Doodle Day once a month in Pass-a-Grille, FL (provided there is not a litter in the house). Our Doodle Days dates are posted on our web site. Visits can also be arranged at Leslie’s residence in Lady Lake, FL.
