Friday, February 24th Sew-In
I'll be there Friday night, although I'm not sure yet what I'm bringing.
Looking forward to seeing what you all are working on!
Free batting available
Hello! I recently came into some higher loft batting (talking many, many yards) and just don't have room or full need for it. If you are interested, let me know. I can cut whatever yardage you want and the only thing you need to do is pick it up! I am not sure of the exact loft but it is about 1" high without a squeeze and a poly blend. Did some quick quilting on it and it's soft, little to no noise. Thanks! to request yardage and schedule pick up email me - hello@drygoodsdesignonline.com
Re: Sew in Saturday February 18th
I really enjoyed going to my first Sew-In yesterday. I got some real work done on a quilt I am hand-stitching and enjoyed meeting other local quilters in a productive, yet low-stress environment. Thanks to all who put up with my StashFest announcement—I am way too passionate about that event!
Re: Sew in Saturday February 18th
I'll be there, too, with my machine and a snack. Looking forward to it!
Re: Sew in Saturday February 18th
I'll be there for most of it. I'm not planning to bring my machine but instead bring a pattern project. See you then! P.

Sew In :: Challenge
Ladies -
We have a SEW-IN Friday night - Yeah! I have several projects to work on and am excited to finish them up! I added a message on the right column - let us know if you are coming.
Challenge - Robert Kaufman has offered up Charm pacs for a challenge - check out the link in the previous entry. As I've never done a challenge before I'll need a little guidance (Sandy???) but we'll definately discuss on Friday. If we want to do it we'll place one order for the charm packs.
See you Friday night.

Got this from Alissa this morning:
Hi All!
Robert Kaufman has let me know that they would love to help support all of the MQGuilds and sponsor challenges that you might want to hold. They specifically mentioned their Kona solids Charm Packs. If any of you end up coordinating a challenge that you'd use them for just drop me a line (modernquiltguild@gmail.com or alissa@handmadebyalissa.com) and I can connect you to coordinate!Alissa
If anyone would like to organize anything let me know and I will forward the challenge information on.

Making a boy baby quilt for Melissa
Melissa is having a baby, due 12/24/10! We are making square in square blocks similar to the following:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/36907269@N02/4972394606/
Blogged here: http://lollyquiltz.blogspot.com/2010/09/wordless-wednesday-for-baby-jane.html
The center squares will be 5 ½” UF, 5” finished, the full block will be 10 ½” UF, 10” finished. The centers can be off-set/wonky, etc., they should also compliment the solid outer square.
The outer square Kona fabrics should be...
Greens/blues/grays/white and off-white/browns/reds/oranges and yellows
Each person makes 2 or 3 blocks. If you have an extra scrap or 2 1/2" square of the center fabric bring it - so we can do something fun for the back. We will also work on these Friday night 11/12 and Katie will bring some Kona scraps if you need.
You can bring your blocks completed on Friday or work on them Friday night. If you can't join us Friday but want to make blocks - email Katie or Noelle and we'll figure out how to get them from you.
Sew in Fun!
I was able to come by for a couple hours and there was a lot of sewing going on...and chatting, and sharing and snacking!

SEW IN Saturday, Nov. 6th
Hello, hello....we have a sew in this Saturday at the Woodland Park Presbyterian Church (70th/Greenwood, Phinney Ridge).
Meaghan will demo making these bowl covers. They would make a great Christmas gift. I have a set of the Crate & Barrel colored bowls and have given them as gifts many times over - all those people might be getting bowl covers from me for Christmas! Here is a link to the blog that provides the tutorial she will show us.
http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/how-to/how-to-make-reusable-bowl-covers-home-hacks--108271 The technique uses plastic laminated cotton (or use whatever you have).
I will also start a message on the right side to see who is coming...please let us know so we have an idea how many to prepare for. AND if you are able to join sign up to bring a 'common' supply or snack to share.
Hopefully we'll see you Saturday (and remember the next sew in is the following Friday night - November 12th)
Oct. 9, 2010 SewIn
We had a great sew in on Saturday. I arrived late and a few had already left, I think in total we had 13-14 sewers and lots of yummy snacks. Really can you ask for anything more?
I have added a list of things to bring for our next 2 sew in dates in November - please sign up if you are able to bring something: iron/board/surge protectors/snacks, etc.
I didn't take any pictures so if you have some please post. Thanks much and we'll see you in November.

Kaffee Fassett lecture in Vashon
Is anyone going to the lecture in Vashon Island on Saturday night? Island Quilter (LQS) has been having workshops this week, and this will be a lecture/book signing. It's $15 for tickets. My sister and I are going if anyone wants to meet up to carpool.
Sew in Success!
We had 3 new ladies join us at our SewIn this past Friday night! A big welcome to Kathy, Sue and Max - thank you for joining in the fun.
Kathy was working on a beautiful wedding ring quilt for her newlywed daughter, Sandy was working on a bee block and the cutest little zipper bag (don't forget those instructions for next weekend!), Megan had a gorgeous baby quilt she just finished and was laying out a coin quilt with a lovely variation of sea glass greens and blues. Sue was working on a string quilt and the border was coming together as we were wrapping up (and NO those yellows were not too close to each other!) and the other Sue was making HST pillow samples out of a gorgeous new line but I cannot recall the name of it. I finally finished the back to my king sized HST quilt! Yeah!
We are sewing again next week on Saturday(October 9th). I know I for one will be running late but our time is 10am-4pm. We hope to see you all there. Remember to sign up to bring iron/board, etc...and even snacks if you are so inclined.
Thank you Sue for getting the great space!
Sign up created...
I have added a "sign up" section on the right side so we know we'll have enough irons, boards, surge protectors and SNACKS. Please sign up if you are planning to bring something to one of the upcoming SEW INs.
MORE Sew-in Dates
We have added our regular November Sew in date and 2 EXTRA Friday night sew-ins....One is coming up soon - October 1st. Sign up to bring an iron/ironing board/surge protector.
Thanks and hope to see you there.
September 2010 Sew-In
We had a great September sew-in. Two new folks joined us and one of them came from the New England Chapter of the Modern Quilting Guild. She only moved to Seattle a week ago - Welcome!!
Katie did a wonderful write-up with pictures and all on her blog, check it out: http://sewkatiedid.wordpress.com/2010/09/13/seattle-modern-quilting-guildseptember-meeting/
We did talk about adding a Friday night sewing session in the coming weeks - stay tuned if we can make it happen we'll post it here. We also discussed that we probably would not have a December Sew-In as for most it is usually very hectic in December.
Hopefully everyone can make it to the October Sew-In, also up on Phinney Ridge, the location is very bright and has wonderful skylights and a balcony. If you have a project you need to lay-out and step back to see - this balcony is just the ticket for you.
See you soon,
Noelle

Katie, Thanks for checking in on me. I really want to come to a Sew-In. I may just bring some hand quilting as hauling all my gear seems a little overwhelming. If all goes well, I'll be there on Sat, Feb 18. P.
