P.E. this week

Starting on Monday April 30th, I will be passing out the results of the girl's (4th, 5th, & 6th) FitnessGram Assessment.  They got results last fall from their fall test and are receiving another one for their spring test.  Please take time to look it over.  It gives you important information about your child's physical health.  If they do well on a specific item it tells them  how to maintain that level.  If they have trouble with a particular item it tells them what,  & how much, to do to improve.  These are our improvement percentages for each grade level.
Fourth grade's %'s are listed first, 5th grade's are second, & 6th grade's are third.
Aerobic Capacity   30%  26%   45%
Curl Up              81%  74%   70%
Trunk Lift   84%  63%   91%
Upper Body  76%  76%   79%
Flexibility   89%  84%   94%
Body Fat %       84%   82%   81%

Ms. Hiscox, our student teacher from Purdue is here with us.  We are learning all sorts of new things.  We are learning about our immune system and playing a tag game that helps reinforce what we've learned.  She's had to learn to work around all the Spring Program equipment and practices so I'm sure that was a learning experience for her as well.  She's handling it as if she's been doing it all her life.

Boys are working on all their swim skills and progressing every day.  Remember that it can be a little chilly walking back after they've been in the pool so please remind them to take a jacket - even on warmer days.

Please remember that your child will need gym shoes with a sneaker bottom for P.E class, as well as their Gym For Fun day.  They do not need to be new.  Also, gym shoes with laces or straps help to protect your child's feet/ankles better than those without laces. If they do not have gym shoes they may walk for their exercise, but it's not as much fun as participating along with everyone else. They do lose points each day they forget the correct shoes which can affect their grade.

Also, Ms. Hiscox from Purdue Univeristy will be student teaching here starting March 26th.

If you haven't noticed yet, there is a link to the right with some new pictures that we have periodically taken in P.E. class. We hope you enjoy looking at these.

Thank you for your interest in your child's health, & for viewing our website.

P.E. this week
We don't know about you, but we're hoping the groundhog seeing his shadow was because of all the camera lights on him. We don't want 6 more weeks of winter. We're sure you don't either. Our next unit in P.E. is "Bowling" which is for everyone - Kindergarten through 6th grade. There is an In-School Bowling program available to P.E. classes provided through the Bowling Proprietor's Association of America which includes local lanes like Covington, Shawnee & Crawfordsville. They provide the bowling balls(for gym floors), pins & alleys. It's free - we just had to reserve a time that it was available. Please feel free to view our pictures that you can access through this site. We will be adding "Bowling" pictures as the week progresses. Please continue to help your student remember to wear gym shoes on P.E. days. Again, thank you for your interest in your student's health, & for viewing our website.
