We are excited about our Physical Education Curriculum. We hope you can share our enthusiasm with your child.

Every Step Counts in P.E.

Latest news

P.E. this week

We hope everyone had a fun & refreshing Fall Break.  We're looking forward to the next nine weeks!

This week we start learning/or reviewing how to use a pedometer.  We try to use them every week depending on that week's activity.  At the end of their class time they record how many steps they have taken on a chart that we keep for them.  We will be asking the older students places they would like to go to in the continental U.S.A. & they will be trying to figure out how many steps that it would take if they tried to walk there.  We take approximately 2,000 steps for every mile we walk so they will be taking the number of miles times 2,000 to come up with their answer.

Next week we will begin a unit where we play a game called "Turkey Hunt". You'll have to remember to ask your child what they did in P.E. next week.  It's a game they run "a lot" in & still love it.  Go figure.  Wink

Please remember that your child will need gym shoes with a sneaker bottom for P.E class.  They do not need to be new.  Also, gym shoes with laces or straps help to protect your child's feet/ankles better than those without laces. If they do not have gym shoes they may walk for their exercise, but it's not as much fun as participating along with everyone else, & they do lose points each day they forget the correct shoes which can affect their grade.

If you haven't noticed yet, there is a link to the right with pictures that we have periodically taken in P.E. class. We hope you enjoy looking at these.

Thank you for your interest in your child's health, & for viewing our website.

We hope the rest of your fall is safe, happy and healthy!

P.E. this week
We don't know about you, but we're hoping the groundhog seeing his shadow was because of all the camera lights on him. We don't want 6 more weeks of winter. We're sure you don't either. Our next unit in P.E. is "Bowling" which is for everyone - Kindergarten through 6th grade. There is an In-School Bowling program available to P.E. classes provided through the Bowling Proprietor's Association of America which includes local lanes like Covington, Shawnee & Crawfordsville. They provide the bowling balls(for gym floors), pins & alleys. It's free - we just had to reserve a time that it was available. Please feel free to view our pictures that you can access through this site. We will be adding "Bowling" pictures as the week progresses. Please continue to help your student remember to wear gym shoes on P.E. days. Again, thank you for your interest in your student's health, & for viewing our website.
